** NEW SAMSUNG 750D & 950D True 120Hz LED Monitors - PRE-ORDER! **

Great review PCM2. Although, I do think the score is a bit low compared to the write-up. For gaming use, it is easily in the 90+% range IMHO.

For anyone that missed it:

I have three in portrait Eyefinity and it is actually working out quite well.

Thanks again ;). Every website uses a slightly different scoring system. That is one of the highest scores we've given a monitor. We chose to 'knock points off', if you like, due to price and the poor default settings of our unit.

PCM2,

Fantastic review, the 750D looks like a fantastic 2D gaming monitor with very low input lag, 120hz, 900:1 - 1000:1 contrast ratio. I have a question: Did you happen to test the 2D ghosting/overdrive performance? If so, can you share the results?

I wonder why the contrast ratio on the 750D is much higher then the 950D series. Don't they use the same panel?

Many thanks.

The 2D performance and overdrive is covered in the 'Response times' section. In short it is exceptionally good in this respect. :)

The panel is apparently slightly different (still waiting for a Samsung engineer to confirm what exactly is different about it) but that isn't the only thing that would affect the contrast. The stand design of the 950 series puts a lot of stress on the monitor, especially near the stand neck. The screen is kind of tightly bolted in place whereas the 750 series is more of a 'floating' design with an attachment to the stand at the rear. This would go so way to explaining why the 750 may commonly have better uniformity and contrast than the 950 series. Other differences can be down to different measuring instruments and sometimes results being given after some quite extreme calibration (which does affect the contrast ratio). We should be reviewing the S27A950D shortly so will perhaps get more insight into this.

Edit: The response times section has now been added. It seems the additional '3D performance' section replaced it which shouldn't have happened. Many thanks for pointing that out - very important section :).

And second ninja edit. The PixPerAn images are all present and correct now.

PCM2,

I would like to thank you for adding the PixPerAn images to your review and going into some depth about what can affect a monitors contrast ratio.

The site you posted your review on, is it yours? If so, it looks fantastic, very sleek and professional with top tier content. I've bookmarked it and I will make sure all my friends know about it.

Once again, thank you.

Thanks :). Some of my good friends, partner and ex work colleagues also help out with some of the reviews, articles and feedback collation so I won't take all the credit. But the layout, design (which was recently overhauled) and most of the content is my handywork.

That review is epic Pcm2

Returning my monitor under DSR due to a dead pixel. Do you think Samsung would replace it under warranty?

Cheers :p. A single dead pixel would count within normal Samsung manufacturing tolerances (1 per million I believe they allow) so you'd have to DSR. Which screen is it and when did it arrive though?

950D
Arrived Monday/tuesday.

I was really hoping that when you spend £600 for a screen they'd offer to replace it for free :( I've sen them an email to see of they will.

I really miss the warranty on my dell p2310h :(

Yeah it's a shame I know. Make sure to contact OcUK ASAP if you haven't already and let them know you will return under DSR. You should be fine. :)

The only hubs currently available involving DisplayPort split the signal into multiple single link DVI streams so that would be no good. I'm not sure what happened to MST (Multi-stream Transport) hubs to be honest, that is what you'd need.
