New samsung gear VR

I was really impressed with the Gear VR and tbh it's got me wanting to try out the "proper" ones!

Yes, it is somewhat low-resolution, but what do you truly expect for free (or £80) when the big daddy VR headsets are £500+ ?

I've only had an issue with the lens fogging once but that's because I was in a relatively cold room.

You can prevent fogging with anti-fog wipes/spray for a couple of quid anyway.

I would definitely recommend getting MilkVR app (US only at the moment), easiest way to do this is to get the Hola app.

Tried one yesterday, was astonished how my mind reacted to a gopro x games video. I felt like I was actually going up and down. Made me feel quite sick.

I'm curious as I've never suffered motion sickness etc..
Do you suffer from travel sickness / plane / helicopter / sea-sick at all or anything like that?

now this is something that's gonna be next big thing, once the quality is like 1080p its gonna be great, i guess that's the reason phones will need 4k - 8k screens for

Yeah it's such a shame the resolution isn't higher... then it will be epic. I guess that's still a couple of years away from that though.

Oh man I just spent the afternoon watching the "Shorts" (short movies, basically) in the Oculus store and they were absolutely amazing! I highly recommend going through each and every one in sequence, there are some amazing concepts in them. Very cool.

I also love the effect of using the "Cinema" setting, it really does feel like you are watching a big screen, albeit heavily pixellated. When the resolution increases it's going to be simply amazing.

In fact VR in general is going to be amazing in a few generations, the possibilities are almost endless.

Absolutely not, never really, most of the videos were fine but the SnowBoarding one just threw me. I'd imagine a rollercoaster style one would be just as bad.

I wasn't massively impressed when I first tried my Gear VR but had another play around with it today and thought it was pretty good. I watched a short animation called Invasion which was great. I also tried a game called Cosmos Warfare and while the game itself was really quite awful there was a great bit at the beginning where you could look around your cockpit, showed the potential.

Been playing with this for the last couple of days. Amazing concept but the one thing holding it back is the resolution. It stops it being fully immersive for me.

I haven't played any of the games. Is it worth buying a pad?

I decided to buy a vr headset for my phone. Assuming that it was a simple as the Google Cardboard and having a huge phone in front of your eyes. It is not.
The headset is crap (what did I expect for £15), I can see the edges of the phone, unlike the Galaxy which was totally immersive.
None the less for the brief moment that I managed to get the thing to work half decent, the videos hurt my eyes and made my brain hurt and made me feel sick again. (probably a side effect of my poor eye sight)

Vr is not for me, that's for sure.

Tried the VR experience in Westfields in West London yesterday.

Roller coaster and skiing were both pretty enjoyable, especially because the chairs moved. Love the 360 degrees viewing.

As others have said resolution isn't the best. Probably won't be as fun on a normal chair at home.

Picked up the S7E today but no free VR so I'm not too bothered as its good but not quite there yet!

Probably a little unfair posting this in here, as it's not the Gear VR. I tried a cheap VR headset myself, I don't think it was as bad as the one you had though.
