** NEW SAMSUNG ODYSSEY G7/G9 MONITORS 27-49" AVAILABLE TO PRE-ORDER **

I got my G9 on Tuesday after a eternity of waiting for stock. I got the 93 model and as sadly expected, there were issues - one dead pixel on bottom left, flicker, and even strange hum. This is just to say, this new batch may have issues too. Luckily retailers are happy to take returns and replace however, setting up and packing back up etc what a inconvenient faff.

Just update - new monitor replacement arrived and i am no longer getting those bleep sounds from the motherboard.

the bios loads up on screen and also their is no dead pixels to report.

Touch wood i don't have any further issues. lol

My dead pixel was almost hidden by the windows tool bar. Glad jam098 has no furtherissues, hopefully thats reassuring for folks getting replacements too.

I wish it had speakers and hdmi 2.1... am starting to wonder whether to look for another screen - any suggestions.

@Abz1111 perfect monitor just shame their are problems with this still :-(

My first monitor had several dead pixels near the top left, phoned samsung who advised i should send it back because they could get worse.

They refunded me within 7 days because they had no further stock until the 2nd week of November, while this was long wait noticed amazon had them in stock.

So got my 2nd monitor hooked up to notice this time dead pixels at the centre of the screen.

This was worse than the first one so amazon are now collecting the monitor on the 28th, and they have sent out the 3rd monitor less than 24 hours
with no issues to report.

Does anyone know how the replacement process works for Samsung? Will I need to send the monitor back and then wait for a replacement or will they deliver the replacement and have the delivery person collect the old one at the same time (assuming they have stock that is)? I was planning on selling my old monitor so I'd rather not be stuck without a monitor for a while.

I'm gonna give it another week and see if the popping noise goes away, but if not I'm gonna have to contact them about it. I'm honestly just worried about getting an even worse panel, since I feel like this one is very good with no dead pixels/light bleed. I don't know if the blue tinted flickering issues that I get when I'm in fullscreen on certain games (or even some programs when adapative sync is on) is a hardware issue that would be fixed by a different panel.

I ordered the G9 and the CRG90 and got them both today, they both came with a N9 serial and I noticed something different for the CRG90 compared to when it was first released last year , it now is a freesync premium pro not freesync 2.

The G9 has gone back because I can't live with the 1000R curve it's way too much and looks silly, I put both the monitors side by side and the curve is way too much compared to the 1800R which is just about right for a curve (this is coming from some one that really dislikes curved screens). I can see only one use for the 1000R racing sim rigs that you sit really close to. For normal use the 1800R looks right and from someone who doesn't like curves I think it actually needed one and looks right.

Now the G9 has gone back because I can't live with the curve like that for my use and not really happy it had a white back but you don't see that anyways and only worry is if it yellows out in time as all white plastic does in end.

Anyways the G9 has gone back and had no dead pixels, light bleed from the frame or anything strange and all seemed to work fine and no strange noises too coming from monitor. Sadly can't live with that curve for how I want to use it and it even looked strange with MS Flight Sim 2020 for me and only looked fine with car racing games anything else it was meeh and knew minute I took it out of the box and stuck both monitors side by side on floor and looked at the curve of both and knew I wouldn't like it and that's with it off and when on it just looked daft for 90% of the other stuff I do on a monitor.

Okay will just stick a couple of pictures of the CRG90 box showing the new Freesync Premium Pro labeling and the serial number as the G9 had the same N9 serial I could see as this one, so just to confirm I'm looking at the right number for you guys, I got them both from the purple shirt place had the G9 preorded with them and asked them to send both at same time as one was going back and they came today and both screens look exactly the same when switched on quality wise so clearly both same type screen with a different curve and one has 240hz and one 120hz and G9 G-Sync + Freesync Premium Pro.

Is that the right number you guys are looking at ? When you mention the date of manufacture ? N9 being September right and this one is a low serial so 2020 for sure on the N9, the G9 had a slightly higher number at end should have taken a picture grr before taking it back to the store for a refund, was really easy with them actually they gave me option to pick it up and then refund after checking all was there or go to a store near me and do it there and it took 5 mins in store to get the refund or I could exchange it if I liked they said, but explained I ordered two different and wanted to keep one only and the one I liked.

I got them from purple shirt also because they have 2 year warranty on them, some places are saying only one year, so heads up where you buy them from, also purple shirt place has a 6 month replace or repair option (up to the purchaser which to take, of course you would take replace for new one) or full refund if it goes wrong in that time, after that time repair really they said if can be fixed or replaced up to them. So another thing to think about when purchasing these how easy to get them replaced and in what time limits the retailer gives.

Samsung collect it, check it, then send a replacement or refund if there's no stock.

At the moment, there is no 95 stock but there is 93 stock like what I had.

I asked samsung what the difference was and was told 95 is newer. I think I read here or somewhere else that 95 was same as 93 but also had the euro 2 pin plug... thats not completely true as my 93 also came with both euro and UK plug.

Just phone them up and explain you have gone through all the diagnostics

reset monitor
different displayport
monitor firmware update

if you don't they wil make you go through them lol

Just explain the issue and samsung will have someone collect your monitor, for me this was within 24 hours and they used dpd.

You don't have to print labels they just stick bar code on the box and of it goes.

Also they don't have monitors in stock (for uk anyway) and they normally take 3 days to check the monitor before emailing you about whether you want to wait
until November forreplacement or refund.

My refund took further 1-2 days, whole proccess was around 6 days this was the weekend included to.

Really good service from them, customer service over the phone could be better lol

Amazon is just cool like that!

I don't think the 95 is newer. I have seen both N8 95 and 93's now. There is also a 97 which is for sale on the business website.

I think they are either made at different factories, which is what a serial is probably most useful for, tracking when and where it was made, or they are shipped via different modes/speeds from China.

Or finally they are for different markets and have a slightly different manuals/languages/plugs in the boxes.

The 95 and 93 are exactly the same monitor just a SKU number because one has both Europe cable and UK cable in the box and 95 is basically the UK plug only and yes it is a newer SKU Samsung are right BUT it's the same monitor, I think that's what confused some. There is no difference apart from the cables that come with it for power. I checked all this before I ordered mine with Samsung and they even said they will send the 95 to Europe or requested with the Europe cable stuck to the box or in the box before you make the order. Just a SKU number so nothing to worry about newer or older, just depends at time what stock was in if a certain month of manufacture of the screen. Seen 93 online with N9 serials too which from what I understand is so far the latest ones in the wild.

That's great Amazon are collecting too - I see they sell the LC49G95TSSUXEN model and not the LC49G93TSSUXEN like Samsung are at the moment. Maybe Samsung will stop selling these 93's due to the number of returns - Such a tease/shame. I have asked for the replacement option with them but this means they can only replace model for model. Hopefully the 93s will be out of stock/not sold for better QC to be done, and the 95s will be back in stock for Nov and they give me one of those instead with no issues - Wishful thinking for me. If not, maybe Amazon is the place to get it from instead - but won't necessarily allow for any promotional discount or flexible finance.

Thanks Purgatory, my 93 was a serial number ending with n8, so wasn't the latest. So N8 for August, N9 for Sept... I would imagine the 93 replacement I might get next, will be a N9 or N10(?) if I'm really lucky.

Oblivion - 97... ? Eeek, damn is this the even newer one to try and get instead...

That's the one with a USA power cable 97's have been only that from what I can see. For example LC49G97TSSNXDC

https://www.samsung.com/us/computing/monitors/gaming/49-odyssey-g9-gaming-monitor-lc49g97tssnxdc/

The one's you want to look for are 95 and 93 only for UK.

This may help too. Samsung replied to a person about same thing on USA samsung forum.

https://us.community.samsung.com/t5...c-sheet-LC49G97TSSNXDC-incorrect/td-p/1393924

Also remember they sell monitors as different SKU also because some are sold as consumer models (2 or 1 year warranty) and some are sold as Business models (3 year warranty), business side of the samsung site add 1 year extra to warranty. Same screens different numbers as SKU that's all again for them to make it easy to support different customers and for warranty issues. They can tell right away if consumer SKU sold or business SKU.

Don't get too hung up on the SKU just make sure you get a working one and a N8 or N9 these seem to be the ones with least issues so far. Also don't fret if you get a N8 as it's one month older, it could be right at the end date and so a N9 with N8 number too.. Just get one that's good and don't stress really, I had a N9 G9 95 today and was perfect apart from it being too damn curved and took it back and kept the CRG90 again an N9 serial. Will see how I get on with the CRG90 and make sure to check for issues, so far don't see anything strange and enjoying using it and feels much nicer to me than the 1000R curve on the G9 as this has a 1800R, but again that's personal preference and how you use it. Basically get a good one don't worry about rest really.

Update on my flickering and GSync issues. Tried my G9 with a new RTX 2060 instead of my 1080ti and happy to report that the gsync now is completely in sync with the fps of the game, no flicker with SDR material. With HDR a massive improvement in flicker though there is still a very small amount, not all the time even. So it looks like my 1080ti for whatever reason was the cause of the issue - or perhaps the drivers for it aren't receiving quite the care and attention of the newer cards. I'm going to keep the monitor now anyway and wait for my 3080 to arrive. Maybe now i can forget about the issues and just enjoy some gaming! Thanks to you all for your advice etc and i hope this bit of knowledge helps someone else.

Thats great news. Hopefully the 30xx provide even more improvements as the drivers get updated for those cards.

Thanks Purgatory - That makes sense and I'm starting to 'see' the point of the CRG90 over the G9. Maybe at close range, the curve really is too much or only good for simulators though screen lines could be visible if focused into with eyes that close. Enjoy. I wanted to use this with a PS5 too but without hmdi 2.1, am reconsidering. Either way, when working right, these screens are awesome - Hopefully future updates will have speakers, maybe wireless display, type c maybe, circular stand base with wireless charging built in, maybe a port hub integrated into the base instead of the less accessible rear...okay, I'm asking for too much :-)
