** NEW SAMSUNG ODYSSEY G7/G9 MONITORS 27-49" AVAILABLE TO PRE-ORDER **

Got mine on the 2nd of October and over the last couple of days I've been getting popping sounds. Not too loud but annoying Its happening on a new monitor. Last week I did leave the brightness on 100 and white screen and it got super duper hot, feel the heat from several inches away hot. Maybe that has something to do with it.

Does anyone know what the return dates for samsung are, I'm coming very close to 1 month now and not sure what to do.

Seeing they're also still sometimes sold out, I may not get another one straight away.

For running info; I've mainly been using it on 5120x1440 and sometimes PIP split screen. Playing Doom Eternal on max settings im getting around 180 FPS on a Zephyrus Duo. CSGO been getting a over 240FPS. They all look very good, however I mainly use the screen for reading/research. Also I do not know If I have all the settings configured correctly, bit of a computing noob.

Well, Samsung shop are out of stock again for the g9 (93s and 95s) ... as I'm in the middle of a replacement process, they may just refund me or tell me when they will get stock - bit of a silly process, they could have reserved one for me preemptively. Maybe it is for the best.

As to looking into the whole use with PS5, so although some kind of active adaptor could be used in the future to allow hdmi 2.1 to dp 1.4, it might not cut it as hdmi 2.1 data has more capacity than dp 1.4, so maybe this screen is not really the one for blending use for console gaming and general work after all but would be fine for PC realistic simulator gaming for driving and flight.

So, lets say Samsung refund me... its Samsung's specials deals week - what do you think of the Samsung q700t as a gaming monitor and hooked up to a work laptop... its 8k, I'd consider the 55" and it's £1800 at the moment - Boy what a slippery slope of costs.

Have they got in touch with you at all? I only sent mine back on Tuesday so I'm a bit worried about this now too. I was hoping to have a replacement by next week... I really don't want to wait a month for a replacement. I guess Cyberpunk being delayed could be a blessing in disguise if I do have to wait lol.

Going to ring them tomorrow and see what their returns policy is. If they have a long returns policy hopefully I can wait it out and wait till they have stock to return. Otherwise may just have to put up with the clicking. Its not majorly annoying probably more annoying its a defect product.

@Abz1111 Keep us updated on the replacement

I had sent my first monitor back with samsung and they took around 3 days (the day they receive it does not count as working day for them) ... got email of samsung shop to say about the stock issue of the monitors and whether i wanted to wait or request refund.

You may hear back from them either Friday or Monday

and the refund proccess was rather fast was in my account within 48 hours.

Just FYI for ayone who is willing to wait
..I was told 17th November was when they were expecting stock in unless that has changed, however went with amazon
as they ahd them in stock for the enxt day.

Hi folks, I have not had a call from Samsung yet, it went last Friday so maybe they will call tomorrow to be the following Friday, or maybe Monday like Jam098 suggests. I'll let you know what happens. I kind of knew this would happen and when arranging the collection, given that we knew stock would likely be low, was even recommended to refund rather than return for replacement... and buy again in the meantime... ridiculous... as if I have that much dough to blow, twice ... I'm seriously starting to think maybe its not meant to be or won't be the screen for me... this wait from July, the numerous issues, the lack of speakers or 2.1 hdmi support, even type c missing irritates me a bit as I had the (older) thunderbolt monitor for a while and that was awesome... maybe its better for me to get that again for now and a separate hdmi 2.1 tv for the ps5...would cost about the same or a fraction more. Its a bit like what Purgatory eluded to as to having what fits use best... this g9 is a bit of a magnificent ... let down... if only Samsung transparently told us all how many returns they had to how many "happy" customers they had, I'd rest more assured but for now, the lure of it all is fading... or maybe i'm just getting cold feet with it and the uncertainty - as if things were not uncertain enough already. Sad

Make sure you do call today mate as its a 28 day returns policy, so as long as you start the process today you are okay, if not, it might be down to Samsung etc. I would return and get a better monitor, even if it means waiting a little longer (2 to possibly 3 weeks) ...

I just called Samsung and they said they received it in the warehouse on Monday and will get back to me by the end of today or the Monday coming (Just like Jam098 said). One interesting thing mentioned though as I queried what will happen now as it seems that from the website, that there is no stock left to replace - I was told that a replacement is prioritised for me so to be rest assured. So maybe they do reserve stock for replacements after all - though this is to be confirmed - It could also be that this was just a miscommunication/understanding/somewhere for the sake of reassurance and politeness over the phone than saying not sure/ depends what the warehouse says etc.

I am losing hope in the monitor, the beautiful back that no one sees if facing a wall, potential yellowing over time of the gloss white, ... it's great for productivity and say big group zoom calls, and the PIP is great, I had Samsung Dex on one side with a separate wireless keyboard and mouse for it and work monitor and its separate keyboard and mouse on the other side: this meant that I did not need to pick up my phone at all and could do almost everything off the monitor, whether it was personal or 'monitored' :) work.... sheeesh, what a bittersweet monitor.

Abz1111 - I agree 100% with you. This monitor is very bitter sweet. It ticks all the boxes but somehow it just feels like it has major manufacturing and design issues. Mine was collected by Samsung on Wednesday as it developed a major fault with a lovely purple line one pixel in width going down the full height of the monitor. I really enjoyed the monitor while I had it for 24 days but it also frustrated me hugely too. Lots of games hated it's resolution and having my laptop and desktop plugged into it at the same time really freaked the monitor out when it would go into sleep mode. So many little things just didn't work as they should.

I am considering replacing it with an LG 38" 3840 x 1600 monitor. I am keen on the model that has usb-c support for my work laptop which seems to be in short supply at the moment. What do you guys think of the LG 38" monitors vs the Samsung G9? I am leaning towards the G9 being more bitter than sweet at the moment.

It's unfortunate to hear that so many people are having issues with this screen, I honestly believe that Samsung tried to over reach on the G9, In my humble opinion it's still a 'concept' display that wasn't quite ready for the big time, I don't think the technology is quite there yet for this type of monitor.

I just called Samsung to check but the lady was no help lol. She just checked that it was out of stock and then told me to just email the support. Didn't ask for my order number or anything like that to check if they had received the return (DPD tracking said they have so I'll just assume it's fine). I guess I'll just wait for a response to the email I sent on Wednesday.

Just rang Samsung too and wither got through to wrong department or got hung up on. I have emailed them so hopefully that will be me letting them know the issue within 28 days. Is that how it works?

They responded to my email saying:

"In line with your query, you don't need to do anything once we received the item back in the warehouse it will undergo assessment.

After the assessment will process your replacement it will take 3-5 working days for the replacement to be process.

You will be notify once it is out for delivery."

So they haven't actually mentioned anything about the stock issue, so I hope they do have one reserved for me.

The stock shortage is interesting. Nowhere seems to have the 27inch. I wonder if there has been stealth recall over the flickering issue or if it is just that popular.

Damn, that sucks. I'm really unsure what to do now since it doesn't affect me in games YET but it's extremely annoying while browsing since I get it in basically every reddit thread I open with dark mode on.

I really like the curve and performance of this monitor and there isn't really anything else like this on the market...

For the scan line annoyance, does sitting slightly further away from focus help at all? Imagine this monitor had a remote control too, though could be overkill and more like a tv etc.

Mumbaa - I wouldn't get a LG but I am biased as a few of my friends have been stung with LG, everything is great for about a month then firmware issues, colour fade, slow response, etc nah, no thanks. Maybe its best to continue waiting for 2.1 hdmi monitors in next March etc... and just get anything good enough for now.

For me, if I get a replacement, I will try it out for a month, if no issues crop up, I will keep it in laziness - In theory, for PS5 use, I think it will be able to run 120hz over its hdmi 2.0 so could use it like that until I can convince the misses as to getting the q950ts ... Price of that should go down a fair chunk around or after Christmas... but then again, I would rather game at a desk than on a living room mammoth screen with other distraction etc. Which is a bit ironic as the G9 is a massive mammoth of a monitor but not too big, plus the curves got to save on eye strain right.
