Both returns they checked for me and both found to have scaler issues for freesync. Samsung providing me with a full refund.

I also see on Reddit that Samsung are now putting QC stickers on boxes of ones they’ve checked for freesync flicker

Reading the Release Notes for that new driver (452.06) I found this curious line:

"Some G-SYNC displays have a 6-tap/64-phase scaler which scales better than that offered by Turing's 5-tap/32-phase scaler."

I know some people have mentioned the Scaler in the G7, and that Samsung *maybe* have changed it from the early FB01 version of the monitor to the second release version FB02, but no one can provide any technical details.

I wonder if this is perhaps what was changed? From a known lower performing scaler to a known better performing scaler. I wish Samsung would provide details, and then offer a fix/replacement if there are versions of the G7 out there with a 5-tap scaler, and actually improved versions with a 6-tap scaler. I would say if they are, the products are not the same!

EDIT: For clarity, I do have an FB01 version 27" G7, and since applying the firmware update 1006.0 and using the Nvidia Hotfix Driver 451.85, I have no issues. Even before this, I only saw very hard-to-spot flickering in the menu backgrounds of F1 2020. I do not get bad flickering in Windows, or in all circumstances as has been reported by many people with the G7 monitors.
 
For anyone still deciding on what ultrawide to buy. Flight sim 2020 is simply stunning on the 49 series monitors. I just flew over my town :)

If I could find it to buy anywhere I would! The last place I found it in stock a week ago were still trying to charge a 10% restocking fee if I returned it due to any dead pixels... Not playing that game!
 
Are you willing to beta test the next batch for Samsung as nothing they have done so far has fixed any of the issues bar possibly the heat causing the G9 panel to come part (the G7/G9 flickering etc still remains for most and I bet all as some may not notice it).

G7 32"+KR-FW 1006 and NV Hotfix driver now latest driver from other day and even CRU edited Range to 40-240hz.
 
I could actually cry. G7 27” arrived today. Just got in from 50% off coffee and set it up. Didn’t take any of the protective film off just in case. Set it all up, removed film and see a deep scratch on the bottom chin between the Samsung logo and and Nvidia one!

It’s not from OCUK so don’t know what the company will be like with exchanges, don’t want to have to send it back then wait for them to check it and send me another!

From what I can see so far it’s perfect as well.
 
Report it ASAP so they do not blame you.

Mines had tape hanging off the outer box and lines of dust on the screen but no bags had been opened like the PSU/Cables etc.
 
Can anything be done to salvage this? The electronic buyer store are saying 7-8 days for a replacement, 2 days to get to them, 5 days to process the return then next day delivery on the replacement.
 
Wow not nice to look at every time you use it and you will look for it every time.

Hmm mines has protective film along that part and two bigger bits of sticky tape at bottom corners and top corners.
 
Wait till daylight, at end of the day is should not be in that state new out the box so again I suggest you report it ASAP and then go though the motions and test it and see if its a good sample and decide if you can live with /mask that scratch.

Samsung sure do have poor QC.

Advise you flash the FW to at least 1005 if not already on it and grab yesterdays new driver 452.06 if you are on a Nvidia GPU.
 
Downloaded the driver (first thing I did).

They have the images and have approved the exchange. I can book a courier for tomorrow. The girl I spoke to did say she would see if they can give me a discount, but I don't think anything less then £100 would suit. Problem is I wont know until tomorrow, which then delays the return by a day. He said if I return today I am likely to have the replacement this time next week. To be honest I think once I see it being returned I would start calling and chasing.

I don't get why they cant do exchanges at the door, but nothing we can do about that. What I dont agree with is the waiting five days for someone to inspect it, which adds five days on to the exchange.
