** NEW SAMSUNG ODYSSEY G7/G9 MONITORS 27-49" AVAILABLE TO PRE-ORDER **

Oh yes. To make the experience even more fun....

Yodel. Yes. Yodel. The adventures continue

I was correct about the adventures......

An early week request for a Saturday delivery (when I'm in...) has been run through the Yodel mind mangle, popped out nice and Yodelised and converted to a quite obvious "Tues 1st September". When I'm not in.

I mean, if I asked for Saturday delivery, I obviously meant the following Tuesday....I would have been stupid to actually want the day I asked for.

I wouldn’t take what the app says as gospel. Last Saturday my delivery was expected Monday but it still went out for delivery on Saturday

Alright, there are now 39 entries to the G9 bezel leak spreadsheet.
Most interesting so far, 0 out of 7 G9 manufactured in July 2020 have any bezel leak. Problematic units are (so far) all from May/June 2020.

The fix? Sugru. If you don't know it, it's a mouldable glue that turns in into rubber once set (about 24 hours), and it doesn't expand once set. My wife uses it a lot around the house to fix stuff that the kids break.
She used a toothpick to put it in the small gap between screen and bezel and voila. It's not runny and easily removable so there's no risk that you get some on the screen itself.
Thank you for sharing this. I think I will give this a try. Is it possible to notice that you placed the glue there if in a bright room and you look closely or is it totally invisible?

Great work!, I'm hoping for a July or later model if possible. Having ordered on June 12th I've been waiting ages hopefully be worth the wait!.

Honestly, you'd be hard pressed to see a thing. Only if you shine a bright light on it (like a phone flash or something) then you can kinda tell there's been a little fix. In day to day use you wouldn't have a clue.

Here's what you see when using the monitor normally. Room light was on, fully bright.

And here it is with the iPhone flash.

As you can see, because you know there's been a fix you can tell where it is. Otherwise it's invisible.

Just make sure to pick up the black sugru :P obvious, I know, but there's different colours.

Thank you for the pictures. Ya this looks like a good fix. Typical me. I actually ordered one on amazon with every colour except black lol.

Well I think I am out of the G9 as an option. After confirming mine was going back tried a game - Horizon Zero Dawn - massive motion sickness on every FoV...

So either stick with a 34", or maybe go 38"...

Damn. You definitely need black.
Use a toothpick to pack the gap so to speak, until you can’t see any light bleed.
One small issue is that Sugru doesn’t last long once opened, so you’ll be wasting the whole strip just for a tiny bit. Unless you have lots of stuff to mend tomorrow that is :D

Haha that's fine I ordered some black now. Currently updating firmware from 1004.0 to 1005.4 because I have strange issue where screen stays on with no signal message when I shut off the computer. I don't think it done this on day 1 funny enough but I did have to manually power cycle it to make it come on after booting pc. Hopefully firmware will fix these little issues.

I had that exact issue earlier today, but on firmware 1005.4. Rebooting the PC actually solved it.
This monitor reminds me of the early days of 4K, when monitors were effectively pretending to be 2 side-by-side lower res monitors and all the problems that came out of that, until higher end GPUs came out.
I've a feeling that the cards announced on Monday are what were meant for this beast, including 240hz with gsync enabled :)

Going to try this next week have a toothpick at the ready. Did you use the Sugru to actually stick the screen? I can press mine back and the light bleed disappears for a few minutes. Was planning to place the glue and then push back and hope sticks? Or just use more of it all along the gap between bezel and screen and cover the light bleed? I might only be able to do that the gap is pretty small and not sure if I can get glue behind the screen itself. Thanks

Yup mine was the same as yours: push screen in and it sticks for a little while. I toyed with clamping it for 24 hours or so (joking :p)
I just asked the wife, here's her instructions:

Sugru starts off a bit like Play Doh. Using a toothpick, take a tiny bit and just keep packing the gap until you can't see any light bleeding through. No need to get it behind the screen. Once you're finished, just wipe off the excess with your fingers or a damp cloth if you prefer. It'll set in to rubber in 24 hours.

Note from me: when it sets it'll glue the top edge of the screen to the bezel, so if you're really eagle eyed you'll notice where the fix is but that's only cos you know it's there (see pictures above)

I hope that helps. Again: make sure you get black Sugru :p

Your wife is a star thanks very much! Got the black on order. Am on hol so should be there by Friday when I get back.
Although longer my gap is thinner so I have to be in line or slightly above the bezel height to see it. Once in place the fix shouldn’t be that visible but I know the problem is there so have to try and sort it! Hopefully the fix will not be noticeable at all. No issues if it can be seen when looking for it.

Cheers mate

Guys, contemplating a G9 (once quality control improves :) ), but wondered what options there are for replacing the standard stand with somethink like an Ergotron option? I was consdering an Ergotron HX, but the weight of the G9 is pretty close to the max. weight for HX, and I don't know of anything more sturdy. Floor stand maybe?

I have the Ergotron LX arm and it doesn't hold up the G7 32, i have it balanced on the top of the arm pole and it sits fine. Not a long term option but as you say the HX may struggle with the weight and curve on the G9. Ergotron customer service are very helpful l, send them a mail, I already had the LX prior to buying the G7.
Their sit/stand desks are great as well.
