** NEW SAMSUNG ODYSSEY G7/G9 MONITORS 27-49" AVAILABLE TO PRE-ORDER **

My G7 32" had tape stuck back on twisted at one end and cut at other end (so not sticking to side) and screen had lines of dust but no fingerprints and all plastic film/tape in place and accessory bag was sealed (not from OCUK as they had no stock).

It would make you think in that way and I did about mine. It wasn't from OC but the box had been resealed. The original tape was opened and then new take put on it.

It's not a particularly good experience really. I think the point that bugs me more is the risk of dead pixels and some vendors approach to them. All this 'acceptable amount per pixel count" bs is very frustrating. I'm actually glad mine had the separating case once I'd spotted the dead pixels as I had a substantive reason to return then.

Anyone having any clicking popping sounds coming from behind the monitor? Just started about half hour ago from sleep but now stopped.
I usually turn it off from the power as I hate the flashing LED light at night.

Edit: Seems to have stopped now by turning the brightness down from 62, read from someone on reddit.

Another thing, are you guys running on default picture settings?

Had my 32 g7 for a few days now. all seems fine however. Playing on PS4 pro (some friends play console) at 60hz adaptive sync switched off. I get weird stuttering that feels like small lag spikes. When adaptive sync is switched on, screen doesnt do it. Very strange.

Yes mine did that too.

With the advent of the new Nvidia comes coming out. Which gpu would be best suited for the g90.Would the 3080 struggle to get 240fps whilst playing bf1 or BFV, ultra settings. Maybe the 3090 would be overkill? Or is this question better answered when the cards have been tested?

Alright so I’m having a few issues with getting a smooth experience with the G9 on iRacing at 240hz.

I’m trying out the G9 instead of my usual triple PG279Qs but even with GSync it’s very stuttery at 240hz. FPS varies significantly on iRacing, areas of a track with grandstands or the pits can cause big frame drops but the PG279Q’s Gsync handled this perfectly, smooth as butter whereas a drop from 237 (capped) FPS down to 180 or so is a juddering mess on the G9.

I have Gsync turned on in NVCP as well as Vsync (this was the recommended way), Adaptive Sync is showing on in the G9 OSD, and as previously mentioned have capped frame rate at 237 within iRacing.

I’ve tested both 8 bit and 10 bit with the same results and I’m not using HDR. Latest driver from NVidia.

I’m not sure whether this is a limitation of the Gsync implementation on the G9 or if I’m doing something wrong .... Any help or suggestions appreciated!

Cheers

Si

Edit : Fixed, looks like turning on Vsync in NVCP was the issue, that’s weird because for my old Gsync monitors that was the right way to do it. Anyway, now to put this beast through it’s paces!

I will wait and see how big navi turns outs, some say it will beat 3080 and have 16gb vram, so might be an alternative to 3080/3080ti, doubt they can beat the raw power of 3090 though

Well i will may wait and see, been a while since ATI/AMD was faster than Nvidia, but it has happened before (long ago lol) so you never know.
If not then my money will go on either 3080ti (if it comes) or 3090 as i want more vram than the 3080 gives

I personally like the Vsync control via the application being used and have always been fine doing this (Gsync and Freesync monitors).

So in regards to the 32" have the issues been fixed yet? Is it a hardware problem? Software? Or both? It's been a fair while since these issues cropped up, just wondering if Samsung has managed to fix. Thanks in advance!

Yes mine did that too.

Yes I've heard some weird popping also.

And the random flickering still happens - anyone know of a fix for it yet? I read somewhere changing the Black Equalizer setting down would stop it but tried that and didn't help. I've updated all drivers/firmware I can but still get the flickering in one part of the screen just left of centre. Not all the time, just random occasions.

The "popping" noise on mine is the bottom of black plastic frame moving slightly against the white plastic of the back as heats up. They must have different thermal coefficients causing them to expand differently. You can replicate the noise if you gently squeeze the bottom near the corners. It does get really warm which explains the "C" energy rating. Will be great in the winter.

Do we just have to pre-order these G9 units and wait for them to come in? Never seen them in stock and the G9 is in my crosshairs for November when I do the rest of my build.

So here is an update on my monitor:

Info for spreadsheet:
Model: LC49G95TSSUXEN
Version: FA01
Manufacturing Date: June 2020
Light Leak: Yes, 20mm length, 20cm from top left corner
Retailer: Overclockers (UK)
Ordered: 11th July 2020
Received: 4th September 2020

So aside from the bezel light leak issue mentioned above here are the other issues that I have found so far:

1. Just like the one that dudewheresmybrain received, mine has a fading away of the display at the very bottom, the whole width of the display - I wouldn't really notice it with productivity work - it is more visible with games/video's.... even so, due to the hassle it is to return and because it is only a slight fading away, although not happy about it, I'd still consider keeping it if that were the only issue aside from the very slight bezel light leak issue.
2. Also like the one that dudewheresmybrain received, once the monitor goes to sleep it will not wake up very easily - it takes multiple resets of my computer before it will even detect the display port and switch on - this is a real show stopper (pulling the power from the display and waiting for the caps to discharge is not a reasonable solution). Out of curiosity, I'm going to try updating the firmware from 1004.0 to 1005.4 to see if it fixes it, else, anyone know where I can get 1006.2?
3. The display makes a popping sound as it heats up - not a real issue.

On the plus side, I have no dead pixels and no issues with flickering that I have found so far. If the firmware update fixes the issue with it not detecting the display port then I'll consider whether or not to return it, else, I hate to say it, but there are no two ways about it, sadly, it will need to go back.

EDIT: I just tried updating the firmware. I formatted my 32GB Sandisk Ultra USB Flash Drive as FAT32, extracted the 1005.4 firmware from the zip file onto the flash drive (so that the only file on the disk is M-T9549GGAA-1005.4[31A7].img). I then ejected the drive, and plugged it into the service USB of the monitor. Finally I went in to the monitor menu and told it to do a Software Update, it said "Searching for update files...", the screen then went black and then came back on again. At that point I figured maybe it had updated, so I powered the monitor off, pulled the power out the back waited for 10 seconds, plugged the power back in, but alas it doesn't look like it updated. It still says the software version is M-T9549GGAA-1004.0. Anyone else face that kind of issue?

I had this issue too (using DP on G7 32inch). I couldn't get into the BIOS screen and occasionally the monitor would just stop waking up from sleep. If you are using a Nvidia GPU, this link might fix your problem. It did for me - https://www.nvidia.com/en-us/drivers/nv-uefi-update-x64/

Also regarding your firmware update issue, try a smaller USB drive. I tried a 32GB USB stick and it didn't work. I had a old USB2 4GB stick lying around and that worked perfectly (FAT32, default format options).

Thanks for your response I really appreciate it. I tried the Nvidia GPU firmware update following the link that you provided, but sadly, when I ran it, it said "This update is not applicable to the graphics card in your PC" (I have an RTX2080).

I just tried an 8GB (USB 3.1) drive for the monitor firmware update and got the same behaviour, black screen, then it came back on, but after a complete power down and power removal on the monitor, the version is still saying 1.004. :(

EDIT: I've just ordered a 4GB USB 2.0 drive that should arrive tomorrow, I'll give it another try with that one.
