New Site Feedback

I can't sort a list by type?

I can't sort by DDR4 or DDR3, I can't sort by hard drive size, I can't sort by PSU wattage, everything is just on one page.
I don't want to sort by brand, who gives a poo about brand?

I'm pretty sure the last site could do this.

Visually, everything is a bit flat.

Good points,
the opening hours and contact number are on the front page.
Thank god someone did that at last

After using the site for around a month? mutiple times

The most annoying things
Search - is SLOW, even on business connection 1gbps at mid day. (8:00am it seems ok)
When you add an item to the basket that very annoying popup that goes Added!.
This need a option to hide it for ever!.

Slowness and that annoying pop up are the reasons I don't spec builds in GH anymore, it's infuriating waiting 10 seconds each time for the basket to load and then remove an item... One by one... Slowly.... It's unfortunate.

Also the categories need work, you can't filter on some basics like HDD sizes and RAM types, or I'm missing something?

To take items out of your basket you don't need to wait normally for the page to reload just click each one with a slight pause between clicks and the wait for the reload.

There is also an empty basket button to completely empty.

Slow search is bad, can you tell me what you are looking for I just did a quick test right now and the search was fairly responsive. We are using the exact same search engine as before so it should be the same as the old site, its a third party search engine.

I could possibly add the ability to set in your account not to show the popups and just add it and take you to the basket. Or would the preferred method be to have it act how it does but not show the pop up, just adjust the basket count and highlight? Not promising this just asking.

You can break down ram types and hdd sizes by category, you could never do it with a filter, but that is something we want to add however to do so we need to add attributes to all products which as you can probably guess is a lot of work.

Is it just me or is there no way of viewing components from the mobile site? There's no option for them on the home page - only offers, new products etc and the systems and configurator?

Oh yay, more fail programming. Site ignores browser string and loads mobile site regardless, suppose at least it seems to remember which site you select after that.

And is still awful anyway, still have to scroll down passed all the tabs and adverts to actually see any products.

Bundles Issue - There are several Bundles missing from the "Components - Upgrade Bundles" section which are only viewable via the "Components - Processor" pages instead.

Here's an example, the X99 processors section has a Bundle thats not in the X99 Upgrade Bundle's area -

X99 Bundles Page - https://www.overclockers.co.uk/pc-components/upgrade-bundles/intel-x99-overclocked

X99 Processors showing a Bundle which isn't on the X99 Bundle page - https://www.overclockers.co.uk/pc-components/processors/intel/socket-2011-v3

I haven't been able to access the store all morning..... I presume it's down ?

Fine for me (been on a few times this morning)

What IP does it resolve to if you ping "overclockers.co.uk" - what's the output of a traceroute ? What DNS servers are you using?

(SUGGESTION)
Clickable product names in the Order history? i.e. Click View next to an order, it displays the products in the order.

I just get

The connection has timed out
The server at www.overclockers.co.uk is taking too long to respond.

The site could be temporarily unavailable or too busy. Try again in a few moments.

or

This webpage is not available

ERR_CONNECTION_TIMED_OUT

Seems a few others are having issues after a search. Could be Virgin Media ?

EDIT - Working fine now....

? Do you mean it ignores the address? If so ... yes.... thats deliberate so if you go on any link you get the best view for your device. There is not mobile and desktop links, you just switch to desktop if for some reason you don't like mobile view or w/e.

Scroll passed what tabs? If you are looking for a product, look for a product. A sites front page is used for advertising stuff as you have not actually gone anywhere yet to look at products, what do you want, all the products on the website in a massive list on the homepage?

Lets take for example Amazons site

KLmP74C.png

Its adverts, after all, all that really matters is the search bar.

Infact, find me a site that displays products only on the frontpage of their mobile site.

xrZJEPf.png

Our site actually gives direct links to to the today only, the only product you should really need to know about on the front page aswell as to the this week only deals.

The rest of the categories are got to via the categories button or searching.

If you don't know by now that this m2tThiY.png is the categories button, I am unsure what mobile sites you have visited before. The 3 lines is standard to indicate categories.

For example:
C2kbsQA.png m0k9RlH.png OZIqDxP.png 97nRPoZ.png

If you want I will do what AO did and write MENU underneath.

Once you are actually in a category only thing that isthere is the products and the top nav

I can't sort a list by type?
I can't sort by DDR4 or DDR3, I can't sort by hard drive size

I went back to check and this time I noticed a sidebar on the left,
apparently you have to go there first and select which memory type you want.
Only then do they all appear in the main central window pane.
Later I discovered you can also do this from the tabbed menu bar at the top.

I now get what that other poster is saying, there are tabs everywhere and many of them do the same thing.

Now that I've finally worked out what to do I'm happy, but it took a couple of attempts where I had to read a bit more information than I'd like.

Once you go deeper there are links to similar products and what other people bought, which is useful :)

All that social media stuff that occupies most of the left sidebar, I'm not sure I'm interested in knowing any of it.

There is a bar which says "%offers, top sellers, new, highlights, 8pack"
- at first glance I've no idea what the difference is between all of those, I get brain fog and I just ignore them.
This bar is then replicated in the main product window, not sure why.

The default sort filter is "product name". That's never going to be the default filter for anyone, I'm generally looking for a "thing", I'm never going to look for a thing only made by "MSI"

The Home icon disappears when you scroll down??? This seems to break the usefulness of having a Home button in the first place. Imagine having an iPhone which hid its button whenever you had an App open.

I appreciate that it is insanely hard to develop a website, so I'm hoping that some of this first user noob confusion is useful :)
