New Star Trek series - 2017

Is it now? I'm about as right-wing as you can get, yet her being named Michael doesn't bother me in the slightest.

I'm quite left wing and it irritates me immensely. Nothing to do with politics it's just such a blokey name it sounds absurd every time someone says it. That said, I did also have to stop watching designated survivor early on because there was a character with the first name "kimble" and it annoyed me. I'm warming to new star trek though, after what I thought was a shakey start.

Excellent episode 4 again. Very strong Voyager-Equinox vibes going on with this one. Also some serious clowntown moves by a certain character in the show :D

The actions of the security officer were beyond belief! Is this the Walking Dead?:p

Yup.

just a shame it didn't kill Michael (lol) too

Not enjoying the Klingon parts. Not only do they look crap they're not acting like Klingons should. Needs less religion and bromance and more bat'leth fights and blood wine.

It's good I like it but....

Right now it's only Star trek in name.

It could be any high budget scifi show. Literally nothing about it but the tribble seems to fit in the star trek universe.

Klingons are getting worse....

All being said lookiNg forward to e5
Pretty sure my Netflix played it in 4k too, which was a nice surprise but made the Klingon makeup look like painted plastic and latex.

Wasn't 4k it's Dolby vision, what is that.

I hate the Klingons, their makeup is awful and I swear they never used to talk in such a slow and fragmented manner.

I like it apart from that, but as the majority of this new series currently hinges on the Klingons, it's a fairly large issue!

Lol at the security officer, I know i'll shoot at it some more, after all it worked for the Klingons, right?... :p

i can muscle my way past the way the Klingons look, but i must admit the way they speak is starting to grate on the nerves a bit, hopefully some time in the future they'll do a Hunt for Red October mid episode & transition from Klingon to English other wise it's gonna get old real fast!.

My thoughts:

I generally enjoyed the episode and remained intrigued throughout but:

- I'm now doubting we are going to get to an strictly episodic format. Not the end of the world for me but there seem to be a huge amount of reoccurring characters that we only see in snippets... I'd like to learn more about those.

- The Klingon sections were rather slow in this episode and I wasn't that interested in them.

- The security guard lady was undoubtedly the dumbest person I have ever seen in any TV show, ever. I can only conclude that person was related to the crew in Alient Covenant!!!! My mind boggled and is still boggling.

- The insta-warp alien was a bit odd but I'm letting it pass. Still, if it insta-warped into the mushroom room on the 'Glen', why can't it warp out of confinement on discovery? Perhaps I missed that bit :p

- I did like the conflict between the captain and the other characters :)

Not as strong as episode 3 but I'm still really enjoying it :)

I am hoping they do something to them to make them look like in the original Star Trek or something. It would help make sense and at that point they can speak like normal Klingons too.

A lot of subtitles going on there, because the Klingons apparently do nothing but stand around talking. I suspect the actors can't really move much in their suits, let alone fight. Maybe they can't actually speak in the make up, so it's easier to have them talk Klingon, than listen to them mangle lines in English that actually show they can't speak in the facial prosthetics.

I liked the new warp effect. Stamets still getting some of the best lines and scenes, but coming around now. Klingons too talky, not enough Klingony. Lorca still acting the pants off everyone else, he shouldn't bother with the american accent.

The Klingons are terrible. But overall I'm enjoying it.

Jumping into the planet reminded me a little of the Adama maneuver in Battlestar Galactica (but not as well done)
