New summer transfer thread

Haha sorry just had to post this.

Boro have taken to egyptians on tirla a striker called Emad Moteab with an impressive international scoring record and Mohammed Shawky a midfielder.

Now i believe that Southgate only wants the striker but he had to bring in the midfielder just so he can play Shawky and George in the middle of the park :p

The general opinion seems that Alves is far better (and younger of course) than Belletti and he would've been our RB for a few years at least, with one reportedly as good as him just having cover would be ok.
Who knows if we were ever trying to buy Richards, he was just another good player we were linked with:)
He's definantly a better player than Belletti but still not the answer for your rb spot.

It screams of a panic signing to me. May as well have just stuck with what you have if he's as mediocre as people are making out (I've never seen him play so I won't make any judgements just yet).

I imagine after a few games he'll **** something up and Jose will "lose faith" in yet another RB.

Who would you suggest better than Alves we could've tempted then?
Chimbonda and Richards (though with there takeover its too late for Richards) off the top of my head, neither may be better players than Alves but both would be better rb's.

You can add Miguel from Valencia to that list too.

Who are saying hes mediocre? He's not in the starting 11 due to a player called Zambrotta! I've seen him play, he'll be a decent aquisiton for Chelsea. Do Barce have a mediocre player?!

Like every Chelsea fan that posts on a popular Chelsea forum :p

I take my comment back then, they must be right. God knows how they can call any new RB mediocre after watching Ferriera, Boularouz and Glen Johnson (maybe a bit harsh) play there.

All 3 of those get labelled worse :p

I'm not saying they're right that just seems the general consensus. For every person saying he'll be a good player for Chelsea, there's 20 others who disagree.

According to ITV North East News, Sami Kuffour is currently training with Sunderland with a view to a permanent move. Anyone know anything about him?

Wiki says "Arguably the greatest African defender of all-time"

Trying to think of some great African defenders off the top of my head, came up with-

Mark Fish
Tahar El Karkouri

Struggling now

Lucas Radebe.

Is he the gadge that played for Munich? If so he was very good about 5 years ago.

Thats 3 African defenders, 2 of which aren't very good.

Yeah he played for Bayern Munich for quite a while went to AS Roma nd then they loaned him out last year to Livorno

Read that earlier but surely that would have never been allowed to happen, for a start you can only be transfered once a season. Imaginative thinking by Heinze's agents none the less.

I'm not sure that rule applies to teams in different divisions.

Alves is a great attacking fullback but not all that great defensively, he probably keep the opposition's winger occupied with his constant bombing down the wing! That said £20mill+ is insane money for him, no way is he worth that.

Whatever happened to Ferreira he looked a very solid RB a couple years ago but seems to have lost the plot, very strange

If its the same Sami Kuffour then it is the defender who played for Bayern and Roma iirc. Played against Utd in the '99 Champions League cup final. Strong as a heard of rabid Oxes but not the most gifted footballer ever seen. Used to be pretty fast as well. If I am not mistaken he has a brother who played in the lower leagues in England. May still do.

If he is on a free then it wont be a bad signing
