I always saw Zokora as more defensive tbh.
You're joking aren't you?

I think most Spurs fans saw him as a replacement for Carrick when we bought him but he's turned out to be a totally different kind of midfielder. He's no defensive Carrick type that's for sure.

I think Riquelme would be a quality signing, sure we have a lot of attacking midfielders, but non of his creative quality (in the middle anyway - discounting Lennon and Taraabt) - grab him and either push king to DM or get huddlestone trained in the position properly and I think we'd be a completely different team to deal with :)

Not really. I don't see him as defensive as say a Makalele or Gilberto but I see him as "more defensive" than the others you mentioned :)

Carrick isn't defensive though. Zokora is certainly more so.

I can't understand Spurs fans saying you wouldn't want Riquelme, he's better than any of the midfielders you currently own. Sell other players (Routledge, Malbranque and Jenas).

Carrick can play anywhere but at Spurs he was used as a defensive midfielder who sat deep and sprayed passes about all over the field. I don't think he ever even had a shot when he played for us. The fact we leaked goals left, right and centre after his departure just confims this.

Trust me Zokora is no defensive midfielder, he bombs forward on surging runs all the time. The fact he doesn't score many is only due to the fact he can't shoot for toffee. I think he also ruins Jenas game as he is an attacking midfielder but he's wary of going forward because he knows Zokora will leave big gaps by going with him.

It's another £10m on an area we're already quite strong. Yes we could use an upgrade but we have more pressing matters, like needing a midfield general and a left winger.

We've already splashed £16m on an area we're strong in. This allows us to use Keane or Berbs in a deeper role and provide what Riquelme can. That's if he could adjust to the Premiership at all.

No thanks, I'd rather we spent that kind of money elsewhere.

That's a very good point about King, there is also Kaboul who I've heard plays well as a DM (he certainly is capable on the ball). Would mean not playing many of our mediocre CM's depending on the formation.

---Berbatov-Keane---
Riquelme Boateng Lennon
--------Kaboul-----------
Bale-King-Dawson-Chimbonda
--------Robbo---------

That would work well imo, Jenas/Zok in for Boateng is also an option.

King's back in a month, Dawson in a week or so. Unsure about Kaboul but doesn't sound too serious. Rocha is decent and I'm sure he'll prove himself. Gardener should stick to his name sake and help the groundstaff :D

Salty is ok as backup. Lee is winning over the Spurs faithful, we looked much better with him back at LB on Saturday. How much have you honestly seen of Ekotto and Ilfil to pass judgement?

So by your logic a few niggly injuries and we should go spending big money on even more defenders?

It's a terrible point about King, why play an top quality CB out of position? Why not play Berbatov on the wing? :p

That team would lose every game 4-2. You'd honestly three U-21's in our midfield and two Premiership virgins? Not to mention a defender out of position, good on the ball or not?

Imagine going to Old Trafford, Anfield, etc with that team? Gerrard, Lampard, Essien, Fabregas, Scholes, Carrick & Co would eat them alive

You'll never win anything with kids.... :p

What can I say, I like attacking sides. I've read that Kaboul actually started off as a DM, King wouldn't be first choice in that position obviously but he is an option.

I say we'd WIN every game 4-2! :D
