In my opinion he is much better for it. The world has moved on, if we want to read a boring subjective review full of fact then we can do that through hundreds of motoring websites. Frankly I don't care about serious critique of a car, I certainly don't want to watch that on TV and neither do many other people by virtue of clarksons success since he dropped the serious act....

Exactly my view.

If I want to know if the new XYZ is any good, I will arrange a test drive and find out for myself. I don't want Clarkson to give me an objective and in depth review on the new Mercedes E Class. I want him to entertain me and amuse me doing ridiculous rubbish in cars I can never do myself.

Driving the latest XYZ is something we can all do ourselves.

Precisely! People don't get it though, they want it to be 5th Gear but nobody watches that

I'll watch one to see how the chemistry is between the hosts but I don't think it'll ever be as good as JC, RH and JM
Nor were JC, RH and JM (or Jason Dawe) for the first couple of series.

If it's given time it might work out, just like the original did. I just don't think the world is patient enough for that now, especially so with the monster than Top Gear became.

Still to decide about the presenters, will see how they do when it all starts.

Only thing to add to the conversation is that I know who the new Stig is.

Nail, head. I've never understood how people don't manage to get that.

Interesting appointment. I'll keep an open mind about it

That's two presenters with entertainment backgrounds ahead of motoring backgrounds. Probably indicates a continuing of TG as a motoring entertainment program rather than moving towards simply a motoring one.

Looks like they are shaking up the format a bit - with I'm guessing some having more of a studio presence and others doing longer pre-recorded segments.

I am confused. Is Harris still on board? Can't stand Chris Evans but I like Harris and Matt LeBlanc could actually make a good addition - really liked him as 'himself' in Episodes. Having guest/roving presenters could work quite nicely I reckon, at least then there's more variety if one or two of them don't gel.

Sure! And I don't disagree! I said my statement in response to lucarocks92 who said no one reviews cars better than Clarkson - the fact is he doesn't review cars properly because he's arsing around all the time!

I agree, except for the last sentence in regards to a lot of cars. I'm guessing it's not straightforward for someone like me to go and arrange a test drive on the latest Koenigsegg, so I do, to an extent, enjoy quite detailed reviews of exotic cars that I may never have the chance to even see in the flesh, let alone sit in and drive myself.

But I take your point. In that case, I'd usually seek out such content on YouTube...usually from Chris Harris. Which is why I'm actually a bit disappointed that he's now on Top Gear instead :(

Will be interesting to see how these two gel. Nothing wrong with some new blood and I'm looking forward to it.

His style is unique for car reviewers. I love that about him that he just entertains me the whole way through reviews like nobody else.

I had totally forgotten that LeBlanc holds the record for the fastest ever celebrity lap too... So perhaps more of a petrol head than meets the eye?
