Ed can be the Stig. he is always throwing his labour charges in for free so the bbc wont have to pay him

Stopped watching this **** years ago, when it stopped becoming informative and just became entertainment(and I use that word, loosely).
JC, an obnoxious ********. JM, a boring **** and Hammond, an irritating little ****.
Just don't understand how people can sit and watch the same boring drivel, week after week.
But, that is just my opinion.:D

brewer is the top choice. you're all haters

He's perfect for WD and at the top of his charisma level in the program. Can't see him fitting into TG with a five minute "I'm going out to find some bits" session. Just doesn't have that mass audience appeal with his chat.

Would Chris Harris not be a good shout to fill one of the other two seats. I think he would be made for such a role. What do you guys think?

I would love Brewer as well. He has that charm about him. Remember watching him do some program about Iraq or something and was pretty good.

I saw that. He was genuinely scared almost to tears after his experience in the helicopter. Fair play to him for not editing it out IMO.

I've never disliked the guy personally.

Wheeler Dealers is a classic.

"We've put hundreds of hours in to this little motor, replaced the suspension and given it a fresh coat of paint. The car owes us £8,000 so we're asking just £9,000".

*5 mins later*...

"Darren is keen but he's offered less than we're asking. In the end, selling it for a profit of £67 is a job well done!"

I wish they'd just hurry up and pick the woman and non-white person we all know the BBC is going to pick to fill their diversity quota, talk about a drawn out process for the sake of advertising.

Lol

Why can't they just stick a group of knowledgeable, entertaining people on the show. Be they male, female, black, white, yellow or green.. I don't care and neither should anyone else

Chris is great. But the problem with him is that he's a car critic. Not an entertainer.

Top Gear is an entertainment show which just happens to review the odd car. It requires someone more mainstream than Chris Harris

Top Gear is whatever the BBC want it to be. It's unlikely to be run in the same format as the JC era, I don't think that would work. They need to reinvent the show and they have the flexibility to build it around who they have presenting it.

New format of not, the new show will always be compared to the old JC era, and tbh it simply can't live up to that, no matter how good it is.

i.e. you always love your first car and look back at it with rose tinted glasses. I think the same goes for TG tbh, it was a show in our hearts and thats very hard to replace.

Looks like tomorrow they will announce the when, how and where to submit 30second auditions. They are reaching out to anyone over 16 to potentially be one of the new presenters.

I like the bit where Chris is quoted saying that you don't need to be experienced in presenting, you could be a mechanic, or built a car over 10 years, you just need to know something about cars. Then goes on to say you should at least know as much as him about cars to be in for the running.

Loads of people in comments suggesting Chris Harris apply. I don't see why? Harris has his own thing going and his own format which gels really well with his camera guy's style of filming and the script in general. It is not TG style and that's a good thing IMO.
