Allegedly, whoever becomes our next manager will be given a 5 year contract but have little money to spend on new players
Why not just give a Hughton a decent contract, the fans like him, the players respect him and he did an outstanding job all things considered.
Well thats sometimes a problem, he was always second fiddle to a manager so would have been the go to guy for problems, he could be too friendly, and not enough of a hard line manager to really take the club forwards.
As for Pardew, he got fired with West Ham, but also took them to 9th or so the season before after getting them promoted didn't he. Zola was actually VERY good his first season, the second season was just basically every decent player being injured, he got fired, he did smeg all wrong.
Essentially theres two sides to every story. Plenty of people talking about Hodgson getting fired from Inter, but he did well, took them WAY up the league and was so respected and liked he was brought back as CARE TAKER manager where he did ok aswell, he wasn't fired a second time just not givent he job.
Pardew isn't who I'd choose, but Hughton had Newcastle playing like utter turd in quite a lot of games this season, any other season, to be honest, the wins against Villa, Arsenal, one two others just wouldn't have happened, and they'd be in the bottom 3 as is, and they are slowly but surely moving in that directly again. They have the
17th worst home record, that is not a sign of staying up, they've fluked some away wins they won't continue to fluke, and their home form wouldn't keep them up, especially as the team is getting worse as the season goes on.
It also isn't surprising to see a newly promoted team come up with a lot of confidence, form, get a good start, and still end up relegated, its happened so many times its not remotely a surprise.
Also, don't forget, Hughton had control of a lot of the same players in the same position 2 years ago, and couldn't get them to play well, playing rather like they are playing in the past 5 games.
Past 5 game form, Newcastle have the joint worst points tally, 2 points, out of 15, with 3 home games, 2 away. Fulham also only got 2 points, with 3 away games, two of which were against Chelsea and Arsenal, one of the home games was against City. So basically the two most horrific teams in the league and Fulham had 3 games against the top 4.
Newcastle's best games was at home getting a draw against Chelsea, who have been pathetic lately. I'd say that puts them as the single worst team, by a margin, over the past 5 games, and they are only 7 points off the bottom.
