Newcastle takeover???

This is news! Things develop and journalists report these developements. This Times article isn't a regurgitation of old news, it's a new developement in a long running story. A MP, who is a member of this particular select committee has called for his select committee to hear evidence on Saudi piracy. That is news and any right minded journalist would report it, unless they were in Saudi Arabia because they'll end up being murdered and chopped into little pieces.
zero chance of the government doing anything to block this takeover. The Rueben family funded Johnson’s campaign and Jamie is one of his close pals and committee members. As the government have already stated, but if it makes you feel better that it might get blocked sweetheart you keep hoping

You lack basic reading and comprehension skills. Please learn to post more respectfully too.

Why don’t you learn that also, anyone that has the gaul to disagree with your opinion is automatically wrong and constantly berated by you until they disappear from the thread. Anything bad to do with this takeover your straight on her, but if anyone has bad news about the league restarting you straight there shooting them down why they are wrong and your right

But you simply dismiss anything that isn't positive...? This is a discussion forum. If you want a Saudi love-in, I suggest you go elsewhere.

I have no problem with anybody that disagrees me, if I disagree with them then I'll argue my point and if they're factually wrong like you often are, I'll point that out. And if, like you again, you take one point and turn it into something that was never said, I'll point out that you lack basic reading and comprehension skills.

I didn't and have never said the government would block any takeover deal. I pointed out that a journalist reporting that a member of a select committee wanting to hear evidence on Saudi piracy is not clickbait. It's slightly ironic and hypocritical of you to say I will dismiss somebody elses opinon as wrong when anything that doesn't suit your agenda you dismiss as clickbait.

If someone comes with new news than fair enough, but the same thing has been regurgitated over and over, be it the bloke that was murderd, the piracy issue and the human rights issues. See which one is brought up tomorrow and then the new “breaking story” on Sunday

You do realise what is ment by clickbait?

Yes, I'm not sure you do though.
content whose main purpose is to attract attention and encourage visitors to click on a link to a particular web page. Ie what the Times, independent, sun and mirror have been doing for weeks. As I said earlier the Sunday exclusive will be either “ new piracy issues found or human rights”

LOL by that definition everything is clickbait :D

Maybe you just feel silly having dismissed all reports as nonsense and brashly stated that the deal was done weeks ago only for it still to be dragging on. And just so you don't misinterpret that, I'm not saying the deal will be blocked and have said several times in this thread that it will most likely go through. It is however not nearly as straight forward as you like to think.

Yep your bang on, it seemed done weeks ago. the buyers will have known and anticipated all this was coming(ie piracy and human rights) and I have no doubt the delay is more to do with Covid-19 than anything else (Man City was just under 4 weeks), as I said if George Caulkin gets worried that’s when I will get worried as he’s the one that AS talks too.

Ok and just to be clear, I have no interest in arguing with you and going round in circles. I know this is the internet and it's an unwritten rule that you need to be hysterical and only deal in extremes but discussing the complexities of this takeover and reporting developments in the deal does not mean I want* or think it will be blocked.

*Although my idealistic view would be that football clubs were majority owned by supporters.

Mate I don’t know what justifies that comment or i might be reading it wrong, in my previous comment I was agreeing with what you said and was also saying why I think it’s taking so long, and I totally agree that football clubs should have some ownership by the fans I’m sure that’s how german clubs operate

I was just trying to draw a line under the previous stuff as you had previously replied to me saying that this latest Times article was a newsworthy story with something about the deal being blocked making me feel better.

Ok fair one, TBH the arguments will come(I don’t mean by me) when it happens or doesn’t happen, as everyone that has a opinion about human rights, piracy and whatever else will be tarring Newcastle fans with the same brush as Saudi Arabia.

A lot of non Newcastle supporters will be outraged by the takeover, some genuinely but also a lot will be hypocrites that would push their nan's under a bus to be taken over by the Saudi's. Tarring of Newcastle supporters will only come, imo, if and when they try to defend the actions of the Saudi's. If a Newcastle supporter isn't outraged then just admit you don't care or argue that football and politics should be kept apart (difficult given the possible political nature of the deal) but don't excuse or defend the indefensible.

As I said a good few page’s back what the Middle East(Saudi Arabia included)does in general is abhorrent and has no place in the world, but I definitely feel that politics and all sport should be kept separate sadly that will never happen because it’s too easy of a target and too easy to manipulate

Whoa whoa whoa what I miss lol.

More Fake News /poke another MP getting involved meh.

Wasn't long ago the Government wrote a multiple page booklet inviting Saudi to Invest into the UK.

A major investment in Club and City has been talked by people close to Amanda.

The government have already said they won't get in involved and have previously stated that you can have close working relationships with counties while raising concerns and pushing for change at the same time.

People keep talking about sports washing but there is always to sides of that coin. Sport can help usher in change. It has a history of doing so.
