Newcastle takeover???

I'm embarrassed by the majority of Newcastle fans who post on twitter
Matt Slater of the Athletic has also said that he doesn't believe the WTO report will directly mention Newcastle. He does say that it's very damning of the Saudi's though.

The best part of all this is reading all the replies from Newcastle fans on twitter. They're all either experts on the WTO, piracy law or just blaming the whole thing on journalists :D
Journalists and be quite bad as well, Miguel Delaney yesterday was trying to say that Saudi Arabia was worse than Nazi germany

I agree there mind. I know they need to drive clicks to the sites but man the almost constant U-turning can give you whiplash.

Apart from Miguel mind you, but I feel he's just bitter in all honesty.

I think you need to mute the words Saudi, PIF and takeover @woppy101 and just wait until it's decided one way or another. You've swung from it being on to off about 20 times in the last 3 months, it can't be good for your health.

Believe me it’s not good for my health, it probably wouldn’t have been as bad if I had been in work, but my furlough has just been extended by another week(13 weeks up to now) and there is only so much running you can do. I’m at the stage now where I’m sick to the back teeth of it, but on a happy note football starts again tomorrow:p:p:p

@BaZ87, The twitter link you posted is apparently lifted from a statement from Qatar that will be released after the WTO report.
Translation of their summary: - Please dont let SA have a club that can compete with PSG; - Please don't let them get in a position where they can outbid us for our tv rights::D:D:D

I wish that British supporters had been given a chance to own the clubs like Barcelona supporters do. Or at least a sizeable chunk.

Guess the time for that was at the start of the premiership era.

I'm embarrassed by the majority of people who post on twitter full stop. Also by a good number of football fans - or at least the ones I encounter on the trains round here.

Well Arsenal had that and they forced them to sell up a year or so ago. Corporate ownership of plcs is a weird thing.

Conclusions
8.1. For the reasons set forth in this Report, the Panel concludes as follows:

a. The Panel has no discretion to decline to make any findings or recommendation in the
case that has been brought before it;

b. With respect to Qatar's claims under Parts I, II and III of the TRIPS Agreement:
i. Qatar has established that Saudi Arabia has taken measures that, directly or
indirectly, have had the result of preventing beIN from obtaining Saudi legal
counsel to enforce its IP rights through civil enforcement procedures before Saudi
courts and tribunals, and thus Saudi Arabia has acted in a manner inconsistent
with Article 42 and Article 41.1 of the TRIPS Agreement;
ii. Qatar has established that Saudi Arabia has not provided for criminal procedures
and penalties to be applied to beoutQ despite the evidence establishing prima
facie that beoutQ is operated by individuals or entities under the jurisdiction of
Saudi Arabia, and thus Saudi Arabia has acted inconsistently with Article 61 of
the TRIPS Agreement;
iii. in the light of these findings, it is unnecessary to make findings on
Qatar's additional claims under Parts I and II of the TRIPS Agreement.

c. With respect to Saudi Arabia's invocation of the security exception in Article 73(b)(iii)
of the TRIPS Agreement:
i. the requirements for invoking Article 73(b)(iii) are met in relation to the
inconsistency with Article 42 and Article 41.1 of the TRIPS Agreement arising

WT/DS567/R

from the measures that, directly or indirectly, have had the result of preventing
beIN from obtaining Saudi legal counsel to enforce its IP rights through civil
enforcement procedures before Saudi courts and tribunals; and
ii. the requirements for invoking Article 73(b)(iii) are not met in relation to the
inconsistency with Article 61 of the TRIPS Agreement arising from Saudi Arabia's
non-application of criminal procedures and penalties to beoutQ.

I’m reading the conclusions from the WTO site not the whole report, arnt conclusions what its has done?
I don't understand the question. Are you asking if the conclusion is a list of things the Saudi's done? If so then I don't believe so. It is what it is, a conclusion of the evidence that's been found.

I'm not going to pretend to have read the report but several journo's are reporting that the report has found direct links between the state and beoutQ. The section tweeted by Sean Ingle covers some of that.
