Newcastle takeover???

If Owen Brown and McParland are returning then Benitez is. They were very much Benitez's men when he was at Liverpool, possibly more so than some of the Spanish staff he bought with him.

As for the first part, no I wasn't being argumentative. I was genuinely interested in these reports. As for what beIN's fee might be reduced by and what the Saudi's might pay, it's all wild speculation and guess work. All I'll say is that for beIN to even consider it, it would need to be massively beneficial to them - how much that equates to is anyone's guess. There's still the issue around a Saudi broadcaster owning PL rights - the PL would have to be satisfied that whoever the broadcaster is has no ties to PIF but then again, if the PL approve the takeover then it would suggest that the PL aren't linking PIF to the alleged crimes of the Saudi state as a whole and therefore may not link PIF with any broadcaster.

If you wanted me to guess then beIN will keep the whole rights for the next 2 seasons (whether the Saudi's allow beIN to sell in Saudi is anyone's guess) and then in 2 years the PL will break up the middle east rights allowing an independent Saudi broadcaster to get the PL rights in Saudi (and possibly other MENA countries) but also allows beIN to keep a big chunk, keeping beIN onside. All of this is a guess though and would require the takeover to happen, the Saudi's to launch a TV company that could rival beIN, the PL to break up the MENA rights and there to be no conflict of interest issues.

He would be my first and second choice TBH
The argumentative comment was a joke mate after the PM discussion we had Mate.
Speaking of the possibility of the takeover happening/Not happening, I see it’s the MPs turn this weekend, I can’t wait for this to end one way or the other.

i wonder if Netflix are thinking of making a tv series “Takeover till I Die”

I wonder if they’re quite so vociferous when it comes to the UK selling Saudi Arabia arms and weapons? Although I believe it’s banned now, it had been going on for decades.

Wouldn’t it just be Newcastle’s luck that we get taken over and then get relegated, I have just watched the training match clips and we look very worrying fitness wise and defensively we look an absolute shambles.

we also train their officers at sandhurst or did in recent years.

I'm assuming we still train them in the art of gunning down peaceful protesters and cracking down on dissent

Parliamentary debate:

1) are we happy to continue to sell arms to Saudi Arabia? Of course, it’s a cash cow

2) are we also happy to train their officers at sandhurst? Once again Of course, it’s a cash cow

3) what about Saudi Arabian representatives buying a premier league football club? Absolutely not, this is unacceptable

Wait, which football club? Newcastle United. Block at all costs!

OMG just seen the the sunday supplement line up for today. LMAO just watch the hate and protests!!!!

Big Jo is bagging the goals in for fun tho!!!

Did you see Henry tweet the other night saying at least 2 more buyers are lined up. One with the cash waiting and Newcastle will be sold no matter what.

He then said Saudi's are still favourite.

The same bidders that have been around for the last 10 years that suddenly fail to Materialise when they have their chance :D:D:D

Only Newcastle United could go from the start of lockdown hoping for bale to the end of lockdown getting Andy Carroll for another year, on a more serious note, I genuinely think they were given the unofficial nod on the Friday by the lawyers hence the leaks. However, that Monday news broke of further evidence being submitted. Now everything subsequently points to this being the WTO draft report.

I genuinely believe it is the fact this has become so public has unnerved the board. I believe legally this had the go ahead from lawyers, however board wanted more info re piracy under pressure from Bein and the WTO report.

Now i think we’re in a situation where a solution to keep all parties happy is taking place, hence the continued confidence of buyers and the likes of George Caulkin.

I’m still hopeful it’ll be sorted but can understand why it could be turned down.

I wouldn't be surprised is there is some sort talks between Saudi's and BeIN to show premiership there. After all they would want to look after their new investment.

Keys and CO have gone very quiet.

Also people are forgetting the WTO report is about the failure of the Saudi government to act to stop piracy not that they started it. Very big difference and that was coming from a BeIn employee.

People are just jumping over a few very strongly worded headlines from paper's.

Unless the WTO didn't do what they were tasked to do.

There's also the fact that they have to link it back to the PIF.

If the PIF have lied and mislead the PL then that is grounds to stop the deal.

But all sources close to it says so good so far.

Have keys and Co gone quite because they have won? It’s also conceivable they have gone quite because they were told off because what they said was a bit slanderous and libellous.

Do you have a link to anything saying the WTO report is on the Saudis failure to shut beoutQ down and not that they were behind it? The Guardian article where this all broke from clearly states that the WTO report found the Saudis were behind beoutQ:

While the WTO’s 130-page final report will not be published until mid-June, it is understood that the independent ruling firmly establishes that the Saudi government is behind beoutQ.

The thing that gives me hope is because of the amount of time taken they are hopefully trying to work through the problems, if there was now way to work through it it would have been rejected weeks ago

It was from Ben Jacobs. Check him out on twitter he explained the WTO and what they were tasked to do.
The WTO report, as detailed on their site here, is on Qatar's complaint regarding the Saudi's "failure to provide adequate protection of intellectual property rights held by or applied for entities based in Qatar."

Obviously they could still be guilty of the charge without directly setting up beoutQ, by not doing more to shut it down, however if they can prove a link between the Saudi government and beoutQ then it's a home run. Directly setting up beoutQ is the best evidence for not protecting IP rights you could possible get and that is what the Guardian are reporting that the WTO found.
Is that the guy that worked for the WTO?
He is or was a freelance journalist and commentator according to his twitter account.
