It certainly does sound like the PL and FA have insisted on certain activities and crackdowns from PIF including allowing Bein access to Saudi customers and their crackdown on the piracy sites as a condition of allowing the takeover to go through. That this can be done does increase the suggestion that PIF are intrinsically linked to the Government though.

I’m presuming it was a request to the government from PIF, much like the request to the government from the PL, Sky and BT sports, about pubs showing illegal broadcast 3pm games and illegal streaming. Remember all the Saudis were found guilty of from the WTO, was not doing enough to stop the piracy of IP, which by the looks of it they are now doing.
 
Hopefully this is done soon and I for one cannot wait for ole hairy hands having a breakdown of epic proportions!!

Read the piece, they have admitted that they are accepting “responsibility" to fight broadcast piracy, it’s a big difference
The WTO report came to the conclusion they didn’t do enough to prevent piracy which they’ve seemed to accept by not contesting the reports findings, they have now came out and stated that they are going to do more

Big climb down from the Saudi's following their statement after the WTO report. Some people have speculated that beIN's ultimate goal was for this to happen (who knows if this is true), maybe this is the compromise needed but after months of wild speculation and rumour, who knows.

I’m amazed TBH, compromise/clime downs and a Middle East country don’t really go hand in hand, especially the most powerful Middle East country( I exclude Iran because of sanctions). It can only be good for the PL with Saudi and Qatar bidding against each other for TV rights and an extra team that will possibly inject some money into a market that may not have seen much movement due the Covid19
