Surely this was all a ploy all along and Ashley will come out with the moral high ground and say not for sale making him a saint in the process.
Contracts have already been exchanged so he can’t pull out nowSurely this was all a ploy all along and Ashley will come out with the moral high ground and say not for sale making him a saint in the process.
You're a bit paranoid. Had Utd been taken over by the Saudi's it would have attracted 10000x more publicity than what Newcastle are getting.Well timed for Man Utd to just slip that sponsor deal through with Saudi, but of course nobody gives them the stick the the toon are getting
Who is the bigger club? Utd have just announced and deal with Saudi but nothing has been mentioned about that, a club the size of Utd and they haven’t even had a mentionYou're a bit paranoid. Man Utd are the bigger club, of course. You say Utd have just announced a deal but the link you posted was from 3 years ago. And there's a huge difference between a commercial agreement and taking over a club.Who is the bigger club? Your possibly right there would be far more outrage if it was a manu/Liverpool takeover due to the worldwide support , tbh as I have said I don’t think it will get PL approval, I just welcomed the thought of getting rid of the person that has sucked the life out of my clubMan Utd are the bigger club, of course. As I've mentioned several times in this thread now, look at Shinawatra's attempt at investing in Liverpool which would have bought him just 30% of the club and compare that to his full takeover of City. The outcry (in large part from Liverpool supporters) was far greater when he was trying to invest in Liverpool than when he bought City. It would be the same case had the Saudi's attempted to buy Man Utd, in fact it wouldn't shock me if it turns out that their decision to go for a club like Newcastle as opposed to a bigger side was to minimise the publicity the takeover attracted.
I think it's more likely that it will than it won't. The PL historically try to avoid getting drawn into legal battles wherever possible, the beIN thing just complicates things and the League will come under pressure from certain clubs.Your possibly right there would be far more outrage if it was a manu/Liverpool takeover due to the worldwide support , tbh as I have said I don’t think it will get PL approval, I just welcomed the thought of getting rid of the person that has sucked the life out of my club
Everyone except City, United, Liverpool, Arsenal, Spurs and Chelsea probably.Henry Winter.
Everybody expecting #NUFCTakeover to be waved through. Several Premier League clubs still voicing concern over Saudi involvement, though. Ethics, broadcast deals, but also self-interest - fears of the threat of a well-funded, newly ambitious #nufc.
Lol CANS lads!!!
So which clubs are crying??
You think Wolves, Everton etc want this takeover? It's these clubs that will be effected most and soonest. Also City won't object - the Saudi's and UAE have very close political ties.Everyone except City, United, Liverpool, Arsenal, Spurs and Chelsea probably.

I highly doubt that clubs like Everton and Wolves, who are trying to break into the European spots on a regular basis are going to be happy about another rival for them. In the short to medium term Newcastle have no chance of competing with the top clubs, it'll be the Everton's, Leicesters and Wolves of the League who will be effected the most from this takeover, at least in the short term. I agree that the big 6, excluding City, will be trying to block it too though. Those clubs are the ones OK with it. Everyone else is crying and trying to block it.

Oh, I read the opposite. I don't agree either way. Clubs at the bottom of the table won't care so much, some may even be in favour as Newcastle spending stupid money on average players will benefit them. Anybody in the top half won't like it.Not sure if I've confused you. Everyone except City, United, Liverpool, Arsenal, Spurs and Chelsea are crying to the FA and PL trying to block it because they have most to lose. In fact I wouldn't be surprised if Spurs are too knowing they could be easily outbid for players by Newcastle.
Bigpig you realise that the clubs are the PL, right? And you might be surprised to hear but the clubs do vote on any major decisions the League takes, requiring 14 votes in favour for something to pass. Whether this decision ultimately goes down to a vote by the clubs remains to be seen and will depend on just how strong the objections are from certain clubs, however even if it were to, clubs that don't want the takeover to happen may vote in favour of the deal if they fear the legal action that will follow. At the end of the day it's not a vote. Yes they can object but are they going to mount legal action themselves?
Seems the PL are going to avoid any political or legal issues and past the deal. Like Henry tweeted they probably want this deal themselves even if BeIN is throwing the toys out of the pram.
I'm not sure the takeover of a single club goes to a vote though? It doesn't affect the other teams directly.Bigpig you realise that the clubs are the PL, right?
