It's not an ebay auction
@woppy101. The League can choose who they want, it's not a case of who is the highest bid. There's numerous stories around the time of the formation of the PL how a number of clubs wanted to stick with ITV rather than accept Sky's bigger bid. Equally it was reported around the time of the last tv rights sale that the PL were willing to accept less from Amazon for certain packages of games than they were Sky & BT as they wanted one of the big internet companies involved, hoping they would then make a big move in the next rights sale.
And yes, I know the deal wasn't blocked by the League but competition laws are not unique to the UK. Further to that, other PL clubs may object to a Saudi bid as it could potentially advantage Newcastle depending on the terms of the deal. For example, it's not a coincidence that Liverpool and Utd typically play more games at lunchtime (European fixtures permitting), it's because they're the biggest sides in the Far East and early kick-offs are prime time slots over there.
