got mine today from ebay, its not bad, for me i dont really like or use cases but will use this when i go out for a bike ride, jog or on the pop!

these two might be a good alternative to the official slip case and they're cheap too
 
Got my Spigen (showin the OPs post) today. Beautiful case. Hell of a gap at the bottom with the USB port though, but guess that is to be expected.

The problem with apps like PowerAmp is they are just software, if the chip inside is pants, then there is nothing software can do to help. This was the problem with the One X. The sound chip used was complete garbage. The Nexus 5 in comparison is streets ahead....

The Nexus 5 sound isn't a patch on the Note 3 - I have both & side by side with Poweramp the Note 3 is streets ahead.
 
Just ordered rhino screen protector.
Been reading the android forums and not sure if you guys know this because I didn't.

Rhino screen protector ISN'T a scratch protector.. It's a impact protector

Glass protectors are SCRATCH protectors but NOT impact protectors.

Very interesting discussion on their forum but makes you think what you need for phone.

Personally I'm more likely to drop or dent it so need rhino more than tempered glass protector

thats why if you use a DAC like the Fiio i posted above along with USB otg, you completely bypass the phones internals, so they don't matter at all in such a setup, that is why I am contemplating such a setup.

most phones just don't compare to proper audio focused hardware, phones are a jack of all trades, master of none.

It's interesting that your opinion seems to differ to most of those on head-fi. Shame I don't have a Note 3 to compare to as that statement really does seem to go against the grain.

Thanks for the video, two questions if you have time to check:

Does it beep when it is fully charged? I always seem to just be falling asleep and the phone beeps with a notification, and then I'm wide awake :(

Does it charge through a case?
 
Two good questions I hadn't anticipated or thought of myself. I don't think it beeps when full, the charger at least, but hard to say as I've probably been asleep each time it's happened!

I'll try through a case late and report back.
 
Thanks. A couple of people have commented to me that they've bought the same one, so we can see how their cables stay put. It may just be because I tried to separate the top from bottom, maybe I've moved something out of line. (I'm going to hack one into a car mount :) )
 
The cheaper one seems like the one to go for then, think I might pick one up.

Just bought the first one you reviewed because of your review :)

The only thing I would add to your reviews here is about how far away they can charge from (for cases etc).
