*** Nexus 5 THE Official Thread ***

Yeah auto brightness, although I turned it off and went to the lowest setting manually to ensure it lasted till I got home.

The screen is epic, its just a shame that driving such a great screen destroys battery life.

I use auto brightness, I get 4 to 5 hours screen time a day. I don't use music much at all though. I did notice that Spotify caned the battery the odd time that I've used it.

As promised here's a few pictures of my Slickwrap'd N5 - trying to emulate Motomaker.

I found it extremely tough to put the side skin on, lining it up with the respective buttons etc, I know it looks untidy and I could've done a better job but I can't be bothered taking the sides of and starting again.

It doesn't matter though as it's going straight in a clear case so the imperfections will be hidden lol

erm, that looks absolutely horrendous.

My advice would be to put it in a black case before anyone sees it:p

It's not permanent and I can always take the skins off so it's no biggie. I've got some more skins on the way and have more colour combinations to try out and they're going to be as bright as possible.

So hilarious...that's exactly the kind of reactions I want to get...Don't you all fret when I get bored I'll revert back to the classic storm trooper look after all it's only a skin :p

Nice effort Stoosh. :D
I like the colour combinations by the way. :)

Will it leave any residue when you take it off ?

Thanks Mate..at last a Dude with taste...prior to your post I thought that trait was lacking on this thread :p

I was going for the Michigan Wolverines colour combo (they're my fav college basketball team)

No residue is left behind as i've taken skins off before (the carbon fibre skin on my N4 was on for 9 months) and when I took it off it was nice and clean.

I checked the stats and screen is always at the top of battery useage. You can also see drops in battery when listening to music with the screen on being much steeper than when listening with the screen off.

The auto brightness does seem a little strong. Is there other app options that I could use for auto brightness, or is it something embedded in the Android system?

I use Lux Dash, nice and very customisable. It's takes a bit of learning, watch a youtube tutorial if need be.

How are you N5 owners generally finding the screen? It's obviously good but does it look poor next to a HTC One for example? I'll try it myself but wanted some opinions. Anyone gone from one to the other?

Overall its pretty awesome, however it has some pretty bad offset contrast drops offs, things get pretty grey. Here is a cool video.

HTC One is better, the Nexus 5 is better calibrated but overall I would pick the HTC One every time.

loltim is right, but you are also right!

My release N5 is still nekkid, and despite my 3 (on Tuesday!) year old continually bringing it to me it's doing well :)

Haha, that's funny! My little 3 and a half year old girl always bring me my phone when I leave it somewhere in the house! Funny :D
