*** Nexus 5 THE Official Thread ***

Is this about right for power consumption:
3 hours and 10 mins screen time
Taken off charge at 5:30am and by 13:00 it was at 18%
Mostly just web browsing (not using WiFi,WiFi is switched off and so is Bluetooth and screen auto brightness is enabled)
Little bit of light gaming and a little bit of you tube watching but mainly just web browsing.

Does this sound right or?

Wow, so 42% of your entire morning was looking at your phone!? Maybe you should get yourself a laptop or tablet? (or a girlfriend? ;) )

In my experience it seemed... less consistent. Some days would be good, great even, and I might think that its better. Then another day it would seemingly drain quite quick. The S4 always seemed a little more consistent.

The Note 3 on the other hand... beast! First time I've had a phone I don't worry about charging every night.

Anyone else had problems with the vibration motor? It seems fine one moment and the next either weedy or hardly noticeable, sometimes even quite audible but not that strong.

I got it from Carphone Warehouse so no doubt going to them after an RMA will be an absolute ball ache.

Yeah. Mine sounds like a mouse squeaking when it is used. Just waiting for Amazon to get more stock so I can get another. Seems to be a common issue.

Franco released a new kernel R33 after over a month (he normally releases every few days) and it's a huge overhaul.

Flashed it yesterday and people said it's temperamental with undervolting so I've now made my UV -25mv instead of -50mv to be safe.

With such a huge update, I would expect battery life and performance improvements. He also added colour profiles for nexus 5 to his app.

What's the best profile everyone is using their was one for nexus 4 last time round which calibrated the screen and it was amazing (i tested it against a stock nexus 4 and it was night and day difference).

Thanks for the updated, just flashed it, I never really waste time undervolting, do you actual see much gains?

well my nexus killed itself, it started to display a pink tint white noise kinda image then would need several reboots to turn back on properly. It'd do this every few hours so a replacement is on it's way.

Im still on R30 is R33 such a massive improvement?

Improvement! This is a huge release with more than 1 month of consecutive testing. It contains probably more than 250 new commits which include a lot of patches from Codeaurora with fixes, performance improvements and battery improvements. Subsystems like cpufreq, audio, video, display, thermal, power management etc have been improved. For a complete list of changes please visit my github repository

Sounds like a lot off changes have been made.

Sounds better bad, hopefully replacement is better :D.

I done it to stop it from getting as hot and battery life.

It's simple to do and I don't care if battery improvement is minimal tbh.

I also set the max CPU temp slightly lower to help too.

My phone never gets hot now unless I'm using the wireless charger

What Wireless charger do you have, mine never gets hot while charging. I have noticed it heat up but it is very seldom, only really with PVZ2. I'll try with a -25mv undervolt and see how it goes. It is annoying, but not as bad as the N4 that heated up if I just looked at it wrong.

So after my black one has been nicked, and Lloyds decided they were unable to give me a replacement thus gave me a refund to the cost of the phone I have invested in a 32GB Bright Red N5. Sunglasses at the ready!
