*** Nexus 5 THE Official Thread ***

Yeah. Excess will be £50 I think. I've been quoted £90 in town to replace the screen, but I think he was just trying it on. Will either sell the replacement, or keep it as a spare. Current spare is the HTC Desire, but it's getting on a bit now!

Some of the leaks leave me with mixed feelings so far but Moto has the best software I think, dare I say even better then stock with some of the features. Moto 360 also looks like the best smartphone out right now.

New Nexus 5 is pretty cool, unlocked the bootloader, rooted and xposed up. Got it up and running pretty quickly, and almost done wiping the old device so its going back to Google tomorrow. Outside of some slight confusions with the RMA its been great.

Mine has a yellow tint too the display, I'm guessing this is just the calibration being a bit warmer and the older Nexus 5's being a tad colder.

On the software front Moto just know how to optimise Android and the Moto X was testament as to how it ran. I think that the Moto X+1 will be more or less like the Nexus 5 but with a better battery and AMOLED screen which are two pluses in my books. If Moto bring out a X+1 / 360 bundle I'd definitely be up for buying it.

Am glad that the RMA process when fairly smoothly, Google have learnt from their past mistakes and have only got better.

In relation to the yellow tint, I think all Nexus 5 devices have that tint now but it can easily be rectified by installing Franco Kernel and using his display control app and activate the Vomer2 profile.

I see that the Nexus 5 32GB is going on average on eBay for around £240 so you should get some decent money for it when it's time to sell up.

Yeah thing like active display are awesome, and they have really fast update cycles, the Moto G got 4.4.4 before the Nexus 4. On the AMOLED front I would pay stupid amounts of money if it was similar to the S5, I know Samsung give other OEMs last gen panels.

The tint is not a huge deal, I will fix it soon thou.

Also do you guys using 2A chargers, thinking to get one any recommendations?

Agreed along with the fast update cycles the Moto X+1 is a great proposition and if the battery life is better than the N5 and with the AMOLED screen which I hope is on par with the S5 but as you quite rightly state Samsung probably dish out last gen tech to other OEMs

I use the S4 charger with my N5 I don't know if it's a 2A charger but it does charge pretty damn quick.

Just ordered the 40W version of that desktop charger. Figured it would be useful in the kitchen where my Nexus 4, 5, 7 and soon to be Moto360 will be charging. Not to mention the wifes Moto G and iPad also reside.

As someone else said is there a recommended USB cable for these?

If I need to buy a new one though? I've been using the nexus 7 charger to charge all my android devices. The Nexus 5 one is still wrapped up in the box.

Cool, so any cable is fine to output 2A. Anker one is very useful, might get it to work to charger my suite of devices.

Any decent quality cable like the ones that come pre-bundled with phones should be fine. It's only the shabby cheap ones that cause issues I believe. If in doubt get the Samsung cables that are for the S4/Note 2 onwards.
