*** Nexus 5 THE Official Thread ***

Nexus devices are named after the size of the screen, and whichever way you roll your numbers, 5.2" is not 6".

If it's 5.2" it will be the Nexus 5 2014. If it's 5.9" it will be called the Nexus 6. If you believe some rumours there will be both.

I'm guessing you never owned a Nexus One? :)

LOL, no. :D

But the last 2 Nexus phones and the tablets have adopted this policy - I'm not saying it won't change, but I've seen no indication of it. People are seemingly just referring to it as Nexus 6 as 6 follows 5 - perhaps that's even snowballed into the 6" Nexus rumours due to a loss in translation?

The iteration name/number of the phone has nothing to do with the screen size.

What is your point?

The N5 has a 5 inch screen?
So all Nexus devices after the N4 have used the number corresponding to it's screen size, therefore it seems like a sensible assumption to say if it's going to be the N6 it'll probably have a 6 inch screen and you just appear to be being a **** for the sake of it.

I give up...

Thank you. It did seem quite odd you thought they would have a different naming convention for tablets to phones, with them both using numbers. One the sequence, one the size. That would be odd.

I'm not saying it's not possible, just that it would be odd. They released the Nexus 5, Nexus 7 and Nexus 10 at the same time, all of which the numbers matched the screen size.

They may well bring out a Nexus 6 with a 5" screen though, it would just be odd. We'll see.

please stop. useless email thread updates

Boooo :( Let us argue ;)

It doesn't really matter what everyone calls it for now, everyone knows what is being talked about, and its better than saying 'the as yet unnamed replacement to the Nexus 5'

I think it will be the nexus 5 2014 but it really does not matter.

They should just call it the nexus phone 2014, 2015 blah blah blah. They have made a rod for there own backs.
