*** Nexus 5 THE Official Thread ***

Got OTA yesterday, I set pin lock up but now it won't let me remove it. When I go to security the options for none and swipe are greyed out. Anyone else have this? I was trying to find the option for location pin lock but after googling it seems you need a different version of play services. Anyway not being able to remove pin lock is really annoying.

on some android devices once you have encrypted and put a pin on you cant take it off with out a wipe. not sure if its the same on the n5 never tried it on mine.

i am guessing you have encryption on?

Connected to a work exchange mailbox? I would imagine your company has a policy in place to enforce PIN numbers if your synchronising your mail.

No mail exchange server here. I dont think ive got encryption enabled. I did look at the option last night but didnt click to encrypt as it would take an hour

These are the screen grabs of what ive got.

Don't like how you can't just put it on silent and have to set up notifications.

Bit laggy at times too which I'm a little disappointed by however I understand there will always be a few bugs to iron out initially. It's just a question of getting used to it. :)

Here's my Android 5.0 annoyances:

  • Power button just does power. Why take Airplane mode etc away?
  • Notification centre is a lot worse than what it was. Swiping down twice is not as fluid as swiping once and pressing the 'flip' as it was in 4.
  • Overall I think 4 looks cleaner.
  • Sometimes it feels a little laggy whereas 4 always felt sharp and very responsive.
  • The recent apps button now stacks like cards, while this looks good, it was far more functional and user friendly in 4.
There's more I'm sure. I'm tempted to try Cyanogen and some other ROMs on my X+1 when it arrives.

I had heard that was an issue. Hopefully it is resolved in an update.

agree :) that's why I'm back to 4.4.4 for now while LP gets ironed out :)

After googling around it seems that by clicking the option to "remove credentials" it fixed the problem. Thing is tho, what have i done lol? what does this option actually do !

lol its how ive done it for about 4 years - its locked in the muscule memory!!!! i cant change it now!!

when you are holding the phone in one hand its a natural arc with the thumb to unlock - straight up and down is awkward!!!

also didnt seem to cause a problem on kitkit :(

My OTA update came, and now my wifi works (had to connect using 4.4.4 and then upgrade) Fortunately the OTA came this morning.

In the process of being impatient, I lost my SMS/MMS.....

Oh well, next time I will wait!
