*** Nexus 5 THE Official Thread ***

i've had one since day 1. it's great and works a treat being able to charge your phone without plugging it in esp in the day as i often am on and off it, so i know i'd never have the care to plug it back in after i've used it.

makes a simple noise to let me know something is charging on it.

Personally Owned a nexus 5 twice now (currently got a note 3)

Anyway managed to get the wife to finally give up Her aged iPhone 4 and move to a nexus 5 :) yay!

Straggling to get TWRP to work, I've installed it 6 times, through the app and through fastboot flash recovery without any luck. Each time it seems to install correctly but when I enter recovery I get the boot screen then it just restart and boots up back to the system.

Any other recommended recoveries?

Edit: 2.8.2.0 seems to be buggy/broken so I got 2.8.1.0 and its working fine.

Trying to work out if its 3 doing it or Lollipop. Terrible problems with 4g over past 3 days may have to disable 4g temporarily if a radio flash from 4.4.4 doesn't resolve it.

Seems L doesn't allow tasker to set on leaving my home turn 3g to 4g and disable wifi anymore. Why :S

Got a couple of those £4 wireless chargers and so far so good. Put the phone on it, and it charges, what more do I want? :)

Might buy a few more and just scatter them around my house and work.

Mine only got dispatched today!

BTW, does anyone know how to disable the notification toggles on lock screen? Seems like a rather major security flaw since anyone can now just turn off wifi, mobile data and location settings thus rendering cerberus etc. useless.....

This is flawed logic for the following reasons:

  • If you don't have a lock screen, thief could disable any data connection to the phone
  • If you have a lock screen, thief will wipe the phone from recovery to remove the lock screen and can then disable any data connection

Whilst Cerberus will survive a wipe if installed to the system partition, the device can still be cut off from any data connection even if the lock screen controls were there or not.

A thief isn't going to keep a device disconnected from cell towers or WiFi permanently as it defeats the purpose of the device.

True but then I don't think your "average" thief will know how to get into the recovery and wipe the device. Most of my friends/family don't even know how to get into the recovery.

But still, I rather have an option to enable/disable the lock screen notification toggles.

I did the OTA update to 5.0 then a factory reset and all was working well for a while. Now it seems the unexpected reloading of apps/launcher has been getting worse. And this week Google Play services has started crashing ('has stopped') when trying to change certain settings. Possibly after a minor update that allowed trusted geographic locations, so when I try and add my Home location by turning it on in the Trusted Locations section and touch Back, the stopped message comes up.

No amount of cache cleaning on the service seems to fix it. Anyone else getting Google Play service crashes when doing something?

I think I've found a possible cause for my battery issues. Lux doesn't seem to very working. It changes the brightness when I open it, but dynamically in the background it does nothing.

There's a new feature in 5.0 called Adaptive Brightness. Ive enabled it and set it low. Let's see if it helps.
