*** Nexus 5 THE Official Thread ***

I thought that as well but then google brought lollipop out :p

But yes, I do think that android is now in "iOS" state i.e. that much won't change for a good few years but then I also thought the same with kit kat and jelly bean and so on before that....

TBH, I only really care about getting the new android updates ASAP when they have big changes/something I really want, I don't mind waiting a few months for the smaller ones like 5.1

edit:

my n5 is def. "snappier" and smoother now, it feels "perfect".

It will be interesting to see what 5.1 does for my n7 2013 as that is a laggy mess.

Well after a couple of days there appears to be no difference in battery or phones performance tbh. I've been having a look at other phones but nothing has taken my fancy as yet...

I'm using Cataclysm Rom for the nexus 5 and It has helped with overall battery life while keeping it super-close to stock. Would definitely recommend. You have to flash the stock Radio via the factory image though, but meh, easily done.

If you're still waiting for the OTA why don't you just flash the image via the google factory images?

I was thinking of getting the S6, haven't used Samsung since the I9100 but the news regarding bloat has put me off some. HTC, great build, crappy camera.
Sony, well, It's Sony, the UI is usually awful. Huawei have some nice phones coming out, try and hold out a little longer as there is a few releases coming up.

I never had any performance issues with 5.01 apart from the battery, it was always snappy. I haven't noticed any difference in speed with 5.1 and with the battery down to 98% after only 35mins off charge... Perhaps my battery is just shafted. I hate looking for a new phone..

change the battery, its not hard by the look of it

Finally got around to rooting (after more than a year :D). Installed Greenify and AdAway and couldn't be happier. 5.1 is so smooth, just flies through everything.

Maybe placebo, but battery life also seems a lot better with Greenify. Don't seem to be getting the rogue 'awake' periods I was getting before showing in the battery stats.

Running stock 5.1 with custom recovery for root.

Thanks for the AdAway, didn't know about that app. I also installed the GPSFix in which you can select a default NTP server! :) I'm still using CM11 M11, I managed to sort the issue out with gapps draining my battery. If anyone has this issue send me a message or post here, I'll try to explain as best as I can, although you have to have ROOT access. ;)

BTW What car holder would you guys recommend for the Nexus 5? I'm not looking at anything fancy, under £10 something that will hold the phone in place.

Been using a Kenu airframe+ for the last few weeks and loving it so far. It's a holder that plugs into one of your air vents. Might be a bit out of your price range but it's a very solid bit of kit that sits nicely in my Focus. Very sutble too :D

I'm using my phone exactly the same as I always have. On 4.x it was touch and go if I'd get home from work with it still having charge, but on 5.x it won't make it to 5pm without being topped up.

I charged mine Sunday evening and it has 20% left.

Come at me.

I would prefer something to mount on the dash or windscreen, even if I did buy this it would mean that I would have to sacrifice e.g. heating or AC...

I have the same AirFrame and have the vent its on turned off. Makes no difference really as there are plenty of other areas where air is pumped into the car. Much better than having something obstruct your view IMO.
