*** Nexus 5 THE Official Thread ***

I had to put tape in the back of the large connector because it kept popping out on my girlfriends phone but it stayed in with no problems on my phone. Random.

I think these are the radio antenna's

I've had enough of this issue now, Looking for some help in case anyone has had similar problems, after googling, I can't seem to find an answer.

I have 5.1.1 on my N5, but the camera still crashes. Sometimes it's the back, sometimes it's the front or sometimes it's both. I really can't do anything except rebooting the device.

Would a factory reset work (something I want to avoid really), or am I stuck with this issue?

My Nexus 5 is still perfect for me, apart from one very annoying thing. I've noticed that these particular apps, and only ever these apps, are constantly running/restarting in the background giving me some horrendous slow downs whenever I try to use something for more than a few minutes.

I don't even have to be using any of them at all, and yet here they are taking up lots of RAM and causing me no end of problems. Even if I end the process, they're back up again within minutes. How can I stop this or are those apps created in such a way to continue running in the background permanently?

Perhaps I should use social media a little less... :p

Just Factory reset my Nexus, Rooted, installed Cataclysm Rom and the camera seems to have no issues at all now!

Does anyone recommend any mods for increasing the battery life?

might just order a new battery off ebay.

How are people finding the N5 for battery life now-a-days?
Im tempted to see if i can find someone to swap my OPO with for a 32gb N5 as a tide over until the new nexi come out...

My friend has been having an increasingly worse battery with her N5. Most of the trouble happened after 5.0 and each iteration seems to make it worse. This afternoon, on 95% charge it said there was 4 hours of charge left. Unplugged at night, doing nothing, she can easily lose 20%. App wise, nothing is jumping out at me. I have stopped a few things and the ridiculous amount of things syncing via Google, to see how it fairs over the next 12-24 hours.

I sent an email one morning (Gmail) I went to work at 8am with a fully charged battery. By 10am I sat down for breakfast and went to look at my phone and it was dead. Turned it on long enough to see Gmail had kept my phone awake for 4 hours and drained my battery.
It has not done it since nor had it done it before. 5.0 sure is quirky with battery draining bugs.

Well i have no idea what i've done. Have checked that both the 3G/GSM and 4G aerials are attached properly and still wont connect to three. It still continues to pick up O2, EE and Vodafone if i search manually for networks but no idea if it would then actually connect or not as I don't have a micro sim for any of those, just nanos.

Guess i'll be on the hunt for a new phone as the old S2 i'm using is painfully slow.

Most issues are cache related. Clearing the cache and dalvik cache (yes still called dalvik in recovery) sorts out the major drains, which most don't seem to realise and use as an excuse to upgrade.

Mine... it's not quite as rock solid as it was before. It might lose 3 or 4% overnight rather than the 2% it lost a few months back (I've not checked since tbh), but it doesn't feel particularly worse. It still gets me through a day with at least half a battery and I've never been found wanting, wherever I've been or whatever I'm doing.

It's still a strong phone except for the camera (which was decent until the iP6, S6 and G4 came out), battery, but the resale value is poor. If nothing tickled my fancy for the next year I'd be quite content, but I want a larger screen and will probably be moving to the Note 5, S6 Edge+ or the Nexus 2015 5.7" Huawei.

Strange idea but have you factory reset it and cleaned the sim card/sim slot?

Have you tried a different SIM? You might have damaged it.

edit:

Looks like you've tested the SIM.

It sounds like it can only pick up 2G networks and 3 don't have one.
