*** Nexus 7 2nd Gen thread ***

I'm guessing then most units will have dead pixels, most people just don't notice or choose not too. I wish I could, but I'm pretty compulsive when it comes to these things, and bought the N7 mainly for its screen. Gonna see if I can get another replacement, but its getting a little embarrasing now going to the store and asking the same thing. If it doesn't work out, I'll just get a refund and wait a month or two to see if anything else is on the horizon.

Such a shame, everything else about the tablet is near on perfect, even the backlight bleed is nonexistant. :(

Did you even notice them without using an app to test? If not then forget they exist!

I noticed it soon as I loaded chrome, was quite noticeable. Honestly, its one of those things that gets my panties in a twist, I just can't ignore it. :D

You paid your money don't feel bad about going in again! i'm the same a single dead pixel once noticed really bugs me and would certainly make me exchange my tablet.

Will this be your fourth attempt then, are you allowed to say which store ?

My pixel has magically gone for the moment after light finger massage but the 2 lightbleed edges are too much/annoying to live with ... Noticeable on everything from YouTube to movie black bars to just sat on the home screen.

I hopefully can exchange at blue supermarket if stock is there or get another sent out asap as I love the device base on 6 hours of having it.

Got for £180 from the supermarket and what a bargain it is. I had the original Nexus 7 for about 6 months and the screen on this so much better and it feels a lot lighter and narrower.

The viewing angles on the screen are the best I have seen on an LCD panel. Very good.

Comparing side by side with the original Nexus 7 the blacks are also better, something which I was worried about.

Ignoring resolution, the screen is also better than that of the ipad and ipad mini.

Perfect screen here and no bleeding either.

I'm loving it. Just trying to decide whether to root it or keep Sky Go. Sky Go seems pretty terrible with the high res screen.

There's a beta sky go app due out in a couple of weeks which should support hi res streaming.

Ooooo, at 7% charge this morning, here is a couple of screenies. I have been using it very heavily. Literally every 5 minutes haha.

So come around lunchtime I imagine it will be sub 3%, which I will then plug in my Anker Astro Pro 10,000mAh and give it a maximum of 5 hours to charge the tablet... I wonder :P

loving plex on mine the screen is amazing with 1080p videos, theres no lag or stuttering playing a 20Gb Bluray am just blown away with it lol. PDF magazines are crisp and clear easy to read in normal portrait mode, games are just amazing with real racer 3 looking out of this world

as far as been a first time android user its gone great :D

Had a decent play with mine last night. First time using Android since my old Asus TF101 which has a dodgy battery and didn’t get used much after the initial purchase period. One thing I’ve noticed is that Android apps still seem to lag behind IOS equivelants for quite a few things. It's a shame a lot of the remote app developers haven’t bothered to make specific tablet apps.

Googleplay seems to have lost some of my old purchases aswell so I’ve had to buy a couple of the old apps I used to use 

As far as the tablet goes though it feels great, the screen is excellent and it's certainly a lot slicker than my old TF101. Starting to wish I’d rooted it straight away to be honest and not sure I can be bothered doing it now after setting everything up.

Rooting it from the get go was always my intention for that exact reason, I don't have to worry about setting it all up again now for a while.

7 hours. Remember I was installing the ROM, sync from multiple accounts, downloading of at least 25 apps, setting them all up. Running several things at the same time when using it. around an hours of intense 3D MMO gaming and other 2D games. So heavy use if you ask me :) wifi ALWAYS on (oops..)

Put the Anker Astro Pro 10k in at around 0845 this morning, it's now at 95% charge. I am VERY impressed with the time taken to charge from the external battery. It's only used 1 out of 4 lights. So will charge my phone and camera on it and then another charge for the tablet to see how it lasts.

I’m not getting very good WiFi speeds with this new version of the Nexus 7. Of the devices running at the moment I have Laptop 150Mbs, Nexus 4 130Mbs, Original Nexus 7 130Mbs and the new Nexus 7 is getting between 8Mbs and 24Mbs in the same location. I turned all the other devices off reset the router and selected in the advanced wifi settings on the Nexus 7 to only use 2.4Ghz mode and I still only get a maximum of 24Mbs anywhere away from the router and 36Mbs if it’s sitting right next to it.

I have to use 2.4Ghz as some other devices in house can not use 5GHz and the router only supports one band at a time. I don’t live in an area with lots of other WiFi networks (only 1 in range and I set that router up for the owner so I know the channel is not set near to mine). Anyone else getting low connection speeds?

Eric.

That's pretty good.

CPU Spy is a good app to see what CPU states were used over a full charge. I always used that with betterbatterysats and battery monitor widget.

That way I have a good idea how my device is running and if there's any dodgy battery drain.

Guys, I've got a working OTG fix that does not require root after much messing about!

Go to settings and disable security lock screen then select English US as the language.

Insert OTG cable and start Nexus Media Importer.

Reboot.

Nexus Media Importer should now pop up as usual and OTG should now be working.

Change language back but do not reboot as you will have to repeat these steps.
