*** Nexus 7 2nd Gen thread ***

Just got mine, bought a 16gb version as I have a 16gb 1st gen and I never got near to filling it, and the difference in weight is quite noticeable to me.

Just been returning my original back to stock factory image and after a few issues, it's now ready to sell to a friend.

i've been using my 32GB model for over a day now and i have to say it is amazing, no backlight bleed and no dead pixels, screen is pin sharp, unbelievable, no doubt my iPad buddies will think it's crap because it's not an iPad, but hopefully they see sense sooner rather than later.

i also had zero issues with my 16GB nexus 7 v1 in regards to bleed and screen lift, so i have had 2 perfect devices, same goes for the 2 nexus 4's i bought (me and the wife), had zero issues with them either.

all in all my nexus family has been superb, not interested in the 10, had a 10" touchpad before the original nexus 7 and it was just too big to call "portable", a real mess to use unless sitting in your lap or on a table and not suitable for one handed use and on the heavy side.

sold the old nexus 7 v1 to a relative for £100 including the "leather" case, new one cost around £172 (from canada in a physical shop). so £70 to basically upgrade a 16GB nexus 7 v1 to a 32GB nexus 7 v2, if you take the fact the extra 16GB usually costs around £40 more, it cost £32 for the upgrade in hardware from V1 to V2, which is basically pennies for what you get.

the person i sold my nexus 7 v1 to, has already paid the cash, but they live 400 miles away, will probably be a few months before i see them, so I have both tablets for now to use as much as I want, which is great.

going to test out Plex running on the 2 of them tonight.

Hey guys, I just received my nexus 7 ! had a little play updated some apps then did the system update. Now every time I turn it on i get to the lock screen and the touchscreen is completely unresponsive, not a thing!

Should i try factory reset from recovery?

Yea, sounds like a bug. Hold the volume down and power, select recovery, you will see a dead android guy with a red ! saying "no command". Hold up volume and press the power button. Select factory.

One of the reasons the Nexus feels so fast:

It can sustain max CPU freq for longer than smartphones as it chassis is much bigger so stays cooler. Takes longer to reach thermal throttling.

I'm very impressed with this tab so far.

Just tried this once and still nothing ! :( I am trying again now, its just strange how it worked perfectly for 20 minutes and now nothing?

sounds like a bad flash, did you power it off whilst updating? or did it run out of juice?

forget factory reset, try flashing the stock image using a toolkit

Got my 32gb one from ocuk today. So far so good!

Any case recommendations for this bad boy?

Ocuk people recommended the spigen case for my s4 and I really like that so would get on well with something like that I reckon. A lot of people mentioning poetic as well.

I ordered the Moko slim fit case from the rainforest. I wanted to treat myself to a nice Ish case. Will let you know how it is if I get it tomorrow.

Got my USB adapter today and its working a treat. Using a USB wireless receiver and my M$ Business mouse 4000. Makes using RDP on that bad boy a breeze!

Anyone used their new N7 with a slimport - HDMI adapter to connect to their TV? I'm presuming it'll output native 1080p no problems?

Been trying to use a family members Asus EEE transformer tablet to play movies on a TV via Plex, but the 1280x800 display is causing issues, youtube videos display perfectly and in decent quality HD, but movies/tv shows played through plex are terrible, but when played on the tablet direct they look great

Hopefully the N7 should work much better, if anyone uses Plex and has a slimport-HDMI adapter and would be willing to give it a try that would be awesome :)
