*** Nexus 7 2nd Gen thread ***

Hang on, I appear to have been under a rock, there's a new version of the Nexus 7?

In a nut shell, why should I upgrade from my current 16GB first Gen 7?

Has already been answered a million times, but the answer to your question would be the screen. The resolution, viewing angles, colour accuracy and contrast, is just immense for a £200 device.

The screen looks epic for watching content on it, but the lack of expandable storage is at odds with it still. There's no point having an epic screen to watch HD content on if you can't store much content on it :(.

Ill just stick with my first Gen I think.

everything is better on it and the quicker you upgrade the less you will lose on the original nexus 7 in terms of depreciation.

basically with nexus devices they are so cheap you should ideally be upgrading them every year/generation in order to keep up.

the biggest update would be the screen on the new nexus, which is a lot better than the old one.

I discovered Swype yesterday...OMG what a revolution in typing, I've been missing out on on my iPhone  It's fantastic!

i actually dislike swype, i prefer typing.

still not got my R update yet :( - so much for getting google updates quickly!

if your talking about the recent 8MB update, then stop getting your knickers in a twist, it adds nothing and is most likely just a kernel tweak.

Netflix is so awesome on this tablet. Looks so much better than it ever did before, the image quality is very crisp for streamed content.

Trying the free month on mine is there a setting I need to change on this for the HD content or is it automatic

Its supposed to help with the touch screen issues. Its the ONLY downside I find of this device now and whilst I'm still within my 30 day right of return I'd prefer to get any updates which could potentially help me not having to return it.

I'm not the only one suffering this problem - all my colleagues are too.

So my twisted knickers are justified :p

I bought an 2nd gen today from Currys, I happened to ask what happens if there are any dead pixels, the shop assistant said they dont take returns for dead pixels unless there's more than 5 in a square inch.

I asked if were could test it there and then which i thought was a reasonable request, he said "No, you need to buy it to open the box, but you can't return it if there are any", less than impressed I bought it, luckily there were none.

they told my mate that, happened to be 2 on his right in the middle so he took his back said there was a hardware fault and they changed it without looking not very bright are they :p

Those of you who've moved over from a 10" tablet, how are you finding the 7" screen?

I've got an S4 and a Note 10.1 (not the new one sadly), which I'm thinking of changing for the new N7. I'm wondering though if it's worth it, as the screen is quite a close size to the S4, and if I'd miss the extra screen of the 10"? Thought it would be worth seeing how others who made the change found it.
