NFL 2021 Season

I realise it's not actually football, but have US adverts got worse? I remember thinking about 10 years ago that US ads were less annoying than UK ads and generally a bit more clever and often quite funny. Jeez they're annoying at the moment.

Squeegy? Mate, why are you in a gas station if you're not getting gas?!

That Gieco one with the bikers? What?

The people dancing around the Toyota(?) Cross? Why would that make people buy your car?

All the turbotax ads (although I quite like the 'I'm a millionaire' crypto one)

What an amazing game! I do agree, I think the OT rules still aren't very good. I was definitely pulling for the Bills as I'd like to see someone else make it further and as you say, it felt like it came down to a coin toss. Also, as you say some will suggest they shouldn't have let them go 50 yards in 13 seconds, but that was only so they could tie, it shouldn't mean they get handed the win on a silver platter! I personally think maybe do something like college OT?

Jimmy G is an interesting one I think. How many teams have a top flight, elite QB that can carry them to the Superbowl? It's probably less than 6 or 7. Jimmy G could well be in that next level, like Tannehil maybe, or Kirk Cousins. They're actually very good, solid QB's that can win a SB with a decent supporting cast. But I do wonder about teams that trade away so much for that top flight QB, when using those picks to build a team around their 'good' QB might do just as well...?

I personally think Cousins gets a raw deal. As a WFT fan, when we had him and RG3, I always said Cousins was our better chance for wins and he pulled some games out that no other Washington QB from the last 15 or 20 years probably would have... To be clear, I'm not saying he's elite, but I'd take him in Washington over a lot of other QB's in the league.

Of course you can get to the SB or even win it (cough....Trent Dilfer)

Ha ha, I nearly mentioned him myself in my post

Honestly, I think they did need a name and I'm not sure anything would sound good. A hot favourite was Hogs of some form, which whilst it would have fit them historically, being a fan of the Hogs didn't sound too good either.

Also when you get to overtime and it's the first team to score.

Well, this isn't quite correct, but it does get a little complicated. If the first score is a TD, that team wins and it's all over. A FG on the first drive means the other team gets a possession too. Then it's sudden death :)

It is interesting though, this season seems to have seen a drastic increase in teams going for it on 4th down, so there are perhaps times you expect to see the kicker, but we haven't this year.

Also, it sounds odd, but different games have a different value to a FG. In a Bills v Chiefs offensive shoot out, kicking a FG might be seen as a failure. In a close defensive battle, every point counts!

Good game I thought. Shame all the penalties came out at the end. Perhaps fitting that the thing a lot of people worried about (Rams D Line on Bengals O Line) was what finally finished the game off. I was expecting a FG and OT tbh.

I don't think post-season is taken into account though, right? I also hate they've gone to 17 games now as I will always be questioning new records :( Did he smash the old records, or sneak by them in the 17th game?

Not to take anything away from him, not even to say I don't disagree... he had an amazing season. Those numbers are actually pretty silly! I guess another thing to look at, and tbh I don't know if it's taken this literally, but the name suggests the whole point is the value to his team. How many more games would the Rams have lost without him playing? How many more would GB have lost without Rodgers? Maybe it is a bigger overall impact to GB? We were discussing this last night, the QB is sooooo important to a team.

So, Russell Wilson to the Broncos and Carson Wentz to the Commanders...

I used to think Wentz had potential and some of the passes he did make last year were quite impressive, but on the whole he's dropped in my estimation in the last 12 months, so as a Commanders fan, not so keen on that move.

Yeah, saw that this morning. Really sad for someone so young and talented. I know he didn't help my Washington team, but I was genuinely looking forward to seeing what he might do ay Pittsburgh :(

I listen to Ross Tucker. He played for 7 years (not at super high level, but still...) and has some good guests on. He does a variety of different shows, one of them is focused on Fantasy Football.

I feel like some people were posting on here a few years back 'what are Miami doing, they're letting their talent walk away' etc. Wow, they have to be near the top of power rankings right now...

I think Tua, like Hurtz, is really coming into his stride. I think Miami are genuine. Sure, they'll lose plenty of games, but I also wouldn't be surprised if they win 12 or 13 this season. (Tbf, I've not watched them in detail, just what you see on RedZone)

I'm 2-1, carried by Lamar (although I left him on the bench last week and still won!) I'm also defending champion this season. We have quite a history now, entering our 19th season that CBS are keeping a record of, but I'm fairly sure we had 2 or 3 seasons before they started keeping a history.

I understand the independent neurologist (or whoever they are) that was in charge at that first Miami game, has been let go by the NFL!

Washington are as embarrassing as usual. It's so frustrating when we've had some really good lineman, but we let them move on (or they just don't want to be in the organisation) and then it's open season on our QB's!

As a Commanders fan, I almost couldn't enjoy that win as it was so unlikely! I felt earlier in the year our offence was reasonable, but our D was terrible... it seems to have switched over now.

The Falcons Panthers game was rather silly. I felt bad for Walker (I think it was?) He wasn't taunting, he was just hyped to F and who wouldn't be! Almost seemed a bit harsh, but at the same time, those are the rules and you have to keep some form of composure. I definitely felt bad for the poor kicker, but then I think people will blame Walker more than the kicker...
