NH-D14

Noise is also a result of the airflow through the fins and pipes. Some coolers are not as quiet as others and different fans flow different patterns of air... result is different kinds and amounts of noise.

With the megahelims, any fan i tried below 1600 rpm, the temps climbed pretty rapidly. It needs high speed fans to get the most from it. I ran my k2 firstly on the 920, now on the spec in sig, a much hotter running cpu than a 2500k or a 920. With 2x 120mm alpenfohns the temps at 4.5ghz were into the high 70's. Swapped those fans out for 2x akasa piranhas.

I'm using the original Noctua fans and tbh I have never heard a noise from it even when they ramp up, and the temps are superb.

is there two versions? mine didnt have pwm fans thats why i switched them

If you buy the 2011 version that comes with PWM fans Noctua will send you the fitting kit for other sockets for free. It takes a few days but is worth it to get the PWM fans. The heat sinks are identical.

Noctua give newer mounts to owners of older coolers with older mounts. They do not give older mounts to owners of NH-D14 SE2011 coolers. .
Noctua - Kits
We provide mounting upgrades for Noctua CPU coolers free of charge, so if you would like to continue using your Noctua cooler on a new socket, we will send you a new mounting kit at no additional cost. For ordering our mounting kits, a proof of purchase (photo, scan or screenshot of the invoice) of both a Noctua CPU cooler and hardware components corresponding to the specific kit are required.

BUT
Can I get a free LGA115x or AMD mounting kit for the NH-D14 SE2011?
Please note that the NH-D14 SE2011 is a special edition cooler for LGA2011, so we can not offer mounting kits for other sockets free of charge. If you want to use this cooler on other sockets such as LGA115x or AMD, please consider buying an NM-I3 kit from a local reseller.

Guess you got lucky because many SE2011 owners have not.

Can't blame Noctua.
You can have 2011 mount and PWM... or all mounts and no PWM.
Simples.

Or buy the mount kit and have PWM with all the mounts. The form states that they will send it out though. I think OC even sell the mount kit for a few quid as well.

I filled it in and received the kit in less than 5 days.

It states this on the Noctua site.

Owners of Noctua CPU coolers can obtain the NM-I3 Mounting-Kit free of charge via this form. A proof of purchase (photo, scan or screenshot of the invoice) of both a Noctua CPU cooler and either a socket 1156/1155/1366 mainboard or socket 1156/1155/1366 CPU are required

The link I posted above is also from the Noctua site so seems they have some conflicting info going on.

I filled out the form and received the mounting kit for free. So no complaints from me.

Nothing conflicting about it. Just not complete. The NH-D14 SE2011 is not a normal cooler kit.

Noctua clearly state

The NM-I3 Mounting Kit is not an upgrade for NH-D14 SE2011 as it is the newest mount available

I'm glad you got yours free. But please do not tell others they can get them free because Noctua clearly state in the NH-D14 SE2011 FAQ that it is not free and must be purchased.

And your NH-D14 doesn't make noise, doesn't growl, doesn't need RMA'ed either ;)

But that's not what it says in what I posted ? It states that owners of noctua coolers can get the mounting kit free. It makes no mention of which cooler you must have.

Have you read this. ?
