NH-D14

Yes, I have read that.

I have seen NH-D14 SE2011 owners mad and complaining on forums because they thought they would beat the system and buy the NH-D14 SE2011 with PWM fans and get a free NM-13 mounting kit and same money... and Noctua did not give them a NH-13 mounting kit telling them it was not available to NH-D14 SE2011 owners.

I have also posted direct from Noctua saying it does not apply to owners of NHD-14 SE2011 coolers.

I assume you read that? I've only posted it twice in this thread.

I'm trying to save someone from buying a NH-D14 SE2011 thinking Noctua will send them a free NM-13 SecuFirm2 Mounting Kit because they believe you when you say Noctua will give them one free... and then being told by Noctua they have to go buy it.

Maybe Noctua is giving them free. Mabye not. You got one free. Others have had to order and buy one.

If you are willing to pay for any NM-13 mounting kits for forum members who buy a NH-14 SE2011 and Noctua tells to go buy their own NM-13 fine.

If you are not willing to pay those that Noctua does not supply a NM-13 mounting kit free then quit arguing that they are free.

But it is not beating the system it clearly states that they will send the mount kit. It makes no mention of cooler type you just need proof you have purchased a Noctua cooler and the relevant motherboard.

It is very conflicting. I would advise contacting Noctua but I filled in the form with a copy of my D14 2011 invoice and 1155 mainboard invoice and received the install kit.

I have no idea tbh what other cooler you would want the 1155/1156 mounting kit for as they all come with it. This kit was designed so the D14 2011 can be used with older mainboards.

Can I get a free LGA115x or AMD mounting kit for the NH-D14 SE2011?
Please note that the NH-D14 SE2011 is a special edition cooler for LGA2011, so we can not offer mounting kits for other sockets free of charge. If you want to use this cooler on other sockets such as LGA115x or AMD, please consider buying an NM-I3 kit from a local reseller.

Not denying that but then it also states.

Owners of Noctua CPU coolers can obtain the NM-I3 Mounting-Kit free of charge via this form. A proof of purchase (photo, scan or screenshot of the invoice) of both a Noctua CPU cooler and either a socket 1156/1155/1366 mainboard or socket 1156/1155/1366 CPU are required.

So which is right ? This is what I mean by conflicting information.

Anyway enough is enough, People need to check with Noctua if they would supply the kit they did for me and I hope they would for anyone else too. If not it's around £6 so not the end of the world if they don't and well worth it for the PWM fan upgrade.

Only trying to make light of our "discussion" about Noctua saying in black and white that they will not supply NH-D14 SE2011 owners with NM-13 mounting kits free of charge... even though they say other places on their website they will supply upgrade kits.

Fair enough. :)

I think you are a great guy mate.

I just want people who might buy a D-14 SE2011 to know it's not a cut and dried freebie. And the PWM fans are worth more then the added £6 to buy the mount. ;)

Me I'm a git... :)

Yeah best to check first but the PWM fans are a great addition if you have to pay £6.

Im pretty sure your not a git... Well, maybe. :)

I didn't know this before I bought mine. It may of pressured me to go down that route. Though it does sound like you got lucky. The mouting Kits are only £5-£6 anyway. Depends which one is on offer at the time.

Back on subject, not tried IBT test, should I? What benefits does it have over prime?

it just gets the cpu as hot as it can be,esp on maximum stress,i like to use ibt for quick stability check and prime95 for longer testing

So achieving high temps on IBT is not a sign that you need to pull back, its just what it does?

So IBT makes sure your CPU won't blow up and prime makes sure it won't crash under stress? Sounds fair...

you tend to find instability quicker in ibt,so its good to get some stability, then you can test it further in prime95

It's good to keep temps at safe levels under maximum load... even if you don't intend to run at maximum load.

All it take is wanting to encode a video for your ipad or whatever. Some encoding programs will run all cores 100% load. ;)

Here's my IBT results..
