NHL 14-15 season

NHL record 20 round shootout anyone??

Guess it made the loss more 'fun' for the Caps, and at least we got a point.

Lol, Whitley is THE worst rink in the country. Newcastle's was one of the best. Shame they lost the ice and had to fold.

Have you never been to Gosport? ;) One tap and the puck is iced :p

Sadly I live a good two hours away from anywhere so never get to watch anything, apart from our trips over to DC to watch the Caps that seem to be turning into a yearly thing now.

Lol, no never been to Gosport, if it's that bad that may be why Solent & Gosport teams suck when they come up to the Sheffield tourneys.

That said Grimsby ice is as the name says, 'grim'. The zamboni is a tractor pulling a box.....lmao. Never seen anything like it.

I used to Skate in Whitley because it's not that far from where I live but it was pretty rubbish even for that. Probably 15+ years ago since I've been and I very much doubt it's had any investment since so it must be shocking now.

To be honest we just played roller hockey as kids because we could head over to the local school yard really easily. Used to have a great time playing but I remember this group of older kids started playing and would kick us off and we just stopped playing. Bit annoying! Wish I'd just joined an Ice Hockey team once that happened.

I was supposed to be heading over to the states in April '15 to see some games but couldn't think of a legit reason to go beyond that. Obviously I'd want to see St Louis but there is no other reason to visit St Louis. I thought about Chicago then just driving down for the games but even Chicago looks like it'd be a boring week for a holiday!

We're already going to South Korea for 3 weeks later in the year.

Maybe next season - just wish there was more to do in some of these places. Maybe I can catch the Kings vs Blues in LA next time I go to Vegas.

Nice to see the wins coming in again including a shutout against the Devils.

Maybe no need to travel. Very strong possibility of NHL expansion into LV.

That would be interesting if it happened. We tend to head to Vegas every 2 years but since we have been so often I'm going less frequently now. But watching live NHL would be a good new thing to go for.

Fingers crossed something comes about then. Western Conference does need 2 more teams to even things up so it'd be cool if that happened.

Finally caught up with the Caps games, not a bad week all told.

Sometimes you do wonder where the 'old' Ovechkin went as he sometimes to appear to have lost some of that flair.

Then he goes and does this

Just watched the Caps Rangers game, terrible first period but got better, just wasn't enoug.

Now sitting down to watch part two of the Road to Winter Classic series :)

Can't decide whether to have a brief trip over to DC again next year to catch a few games, wife will probably talk me into it ;)

Well she did it (and I didn't exactly need much persuading), all booked up to catch some games this season :)

As nice as it'd have been to go over for it wasn't possible, they tend to have a home stretch of games around March time that we can usually catch. Will only be a short trip this time round but will get 3 games in.

The Road to Winter Classic program has been alright, nice to see some 'behind the scenes' type stuff but it's still pretty light on any meaty content.

Still looking forward to this weeks episode after the Pens game ;)

Eurgh Bergeron and Lucic out tonight and another piece of the Seguin trade in Fraser has been waived and claimed by Edmonton. Don't get why either, it's so odd.

No worries though, Caron and Lindblad are back in for tonight. Chiarelli will do nothing to help this team this season.

Ooo didnt realise there was an NHL thread!

Have to say that the ducks are playing up and down this whole season, we get lucky mostly with the 1 goal games and seem to have some terrible luck with injuries/sickness.

Defense is looking sloppy most games and only player that keeps us afloat at the moment is Anderson in goal who seems to be getting better and better every time he plays, glad they picked him as our starter.

Just watched the Caps Islanders game, horrible first two periods, third was better but still a poor game overall. I'm a Kuznetsov fan but the game was not kind to him!

Just watching part 3 of road to winter classic, then game day tomorrow (well, today!) :)

Hopefully we won't get beaten too badly :p
