Nice pongs and gorgeous whiffs. The Aftershave thread!

Anything really that’s not too popular.

I mean I’ve tried all the usual, AdG Profumo, bvlgari aqva and variants, d&g light blue intense.

None of them really last though..

Edit. Bought a bottle of AdG Absolu the other day, smells almost identical to invictus. It also stained one of my white tshirts :p not much of a fan
Fresher fragrances like the ones you mention above don't tent to have the longevity of other more heavy/woody/oriental types do. Its just a side affect of the notes.

That said off the top of my head John Varvatos Artisan Pure is very nice, and on my list for a full bottle, Coach for Men is another I want to check out too..

I've had samples of Tom Ford Neroli Portofino and Bond No 9 Bleeker Street. Both of which I've had good performance out of given how fresh they are. Creed Viking I really love too, but I'm not sure I'll get another split as its hard to justify the cost.

Check out https://www.fragrancesamplesuk.com/ for some inspiration. :)

Perhaps the individual bottles might be different? Mine says May 2018 on the bottle.

Mine doesn't seem to have a date on the bottle... :(

My previous two bottles always got comments, even if it was just a few people saying they could smell me before they could see me! (I have a tendancy to put too much on, once you become immune to the smell yourself) This last bottle, not one comment.

Always bought bleu De chanel and had many compliments in the past wearing it. Running out however and fancy a change, might try the creed clone seems decent for the price.

the armaf club de nuit has definitely reformulated/changed slightly a couple of times.
Originally the spray tops were a gold colour and I could buy bottles for around £14. late last year the sprayers were silver and this year they're black.
I've not compared the black with my older silver topped bottle, but from what I gather the longevity has been dialled back a little

Perfect. Thanks ! Just the niche recommendations I was looking for.

I’ll check a few of those out :)

you aren't buying anything mechanical here.

as in it's not going to break after 2 uses.

smell is smell. if a clone smells like the original then IMO it's as good as the original. unless of course you plan on keeping the receipt or bottle in your pocket to show everyone you bought the original.

i agree with you on watches for instance. buy something real not fake. it's obvious to see the difference. i seen a fake version of mine at a market in thailand. i told the guy it's an obvious fake. he said it wasn't thinking i was interested in buying trying to haggle so he came down in price a little. i told him no i don't want it i have the original why would i want the fake? he came down in price again lol. however since i owned the original i could tell things like the stones weren't right. also the things holding them in place were too big, etc. it was obvious from a mile away.

also same market fake converses were more expensive than real ones from a posh shopping centre on the other side of bangkok.

i don't do fakes. however these aren't fakes they are their own smell. as in i'm not buying a box or package made to look like aventus creed. which is using their name, etc. it is it's own product. it isn't fake. if it smells like it then you can pass it off as being aventus.

how many women do you see all with louis vuitton handbags, etc? everyone and their dog buys fakes. it's obvious they are a fake too. however these IMO aren't fake and they aren't obvious they aren't the real deal. unless like i say you have the receipt or bottle in your pocket nobody can tell if it's real or not.

I once walked into an Omega shop with a fake Seamaster on... got complimented for having such a nice Omega by the staff member and given a glass of champagne (as they were having a special event day).

It’s only really people that own the genuine article that think there’s a massive difference.

Definitely looking for some new aftershave. Down to my last third of a bottle of Lacoste red, had a couple compliments over the time I’ve had it. Ex loved it, and pretty much ran out of my Hugo Boss.

Will be trying to catch up to reading through this thread. What makes it more difficult is the fact that the entire point is for female attention and obviously fragrances work different between us and them :p anyone got any good places to start with? No idea what scents I’d like or what works etc :(

Jesus how long did the old one last for

There is a massive difference. I bet they looked at it from distance, etc. Yeah then you can't tell. You need to be up close to see all the details are off.

I've seen the difference myself like i said the quality is nowhere near the same.

Out of interest, I've seen a few posts where people seem to have collected or be aiming to collect numerous scents. Isn't this potentially futile unless you're just buying samples or getting some splits from some forum - I mean what is the typical shelf life of this stuff? Like only a handful of years right? And even if you use a scent every day won't you still end up eventually disposing of more than you actually consume if you buy too many in one go?

Surely this is a bit flawed - it isn't like there is only one company producing fake omega watches - just because you've seen a dodgy fake doesn't mean better fakes don't exist. It is potentially quite worrying as these things could slip into the second hand market.

It's true

There's a Swiss company doing Rolex fakes for £1000

1ML is actually rather good, far better than the original and the other flankers. The only 1 Million I like are Lucky and Prive.

A little more mainstream... Valentino Uomo Intense and Prada Luna Rossa Black are current fave's too.

Years and years, I have a bottle of Kouros which was bought in 1985, still 1/3 left and smells like it did back when it was released. It was my dads who packed it away one day and forgot about it until we moved house, I had it off him in 2004 and still have it today.

Keep them out of direct sunlight, away from extreme temperatures and don't open them excessively and they will last for a long, long time.

Luna Rossa Black was purchase at first sniff for me. Excellent stuff. :D

Edit. 1 million Privé was okay.. but the longevity wasn’t all that great.

I need to try some of the Valentino range out. I’ve heard one of them is very similar to Dior Homme Parfum.

RESULT

I've had two cuddles from the ladies in the office. Walked in and they both said, wow what's that aftershave you've got on. Of course I said creed aventus LOL Then they both came over and gave me a cuddle, followed by them both sticking their noses into my neck.

Never had anyone compliment me on my other aftershaves, and I have quite the collection. Creed is King! I've read on the internet it's womens catnip but damn!

Sprayed it on just before 7am so interesting to see how long it lasts. Can't go wrong for £28.

Might find a reason to walk around the HR department later ;-)

:edit: 8 hours in and I can still smell it on me

Sorry, this was the Armaf brand you bought? Been through the last page looking for the name; may have missed it :(
