Nice pongs and gorgeous whiffs. The Aftershave thread!

I'm trying to amass a bit of a collection, currently working with:

Penhaligons Opus 1870 - really nice, lasts well, quite versatile.
Armani Diamonds - Been wearing this for years, my go to for day to day usage.
Dior Sauvage - What I describe as a holiday perfume, it's quite light and fruity but unfortunately has no staying power. Brightside it reminds me of far flung beaches.
Azarro Wanted - Tried this when I was in Paris and really liked it, Mrs bought me some for Christmas. Since using it more regularly I'm not sure how I feel about it, it's a bit of an acquired taste.

I'm getting married this year so on my way through duty free will treat myself to another splash if anybody has any recommendations of something to compliment the list above.

Am I alone in having a completely random selection of aftershaves that I've just accumulated, and in just grabbing them at random from the bathroom cabinet?

About the most I ever do in terms of actively choosing which one to wear is picking the latest or most expensive if I'm going for a night out or dinner or something. They all smell pretty good anyway.

I feel I'm missing out :(

Depends on what's in your bathroom cabinet!

I try to get eau de parfum versions over eau de toilette whenever possible, as it lasts longer and usually smells better

Example,

Chanel Bleu EDP smells ever so slightly sweeter and lasts a lot longer than the EDT.

Likewise with Acqua Di Gio Profumo (black bottle) again it smells that little bit different to the white bottle and lasts a heck of a lot longer.

Not everything comes in EDP though unfortunately.

One of my favourites for the past year or so is Dior' Sauvage. I always get comments on it, and for an EDT it lasts a good amount of time.

I have too many fragrances to list at the moment cause I'm not at home !

My Aventus and La Nuit samples arrived.

Have to say that from smelling them, so far I prefer La Nuit. Maybe I will change my mind after trying them both.

I'd test how long the scent lasts on you as Aventus will easily last a whole night, from what I've heard La Nuit doesn't last long on you at all.

Whatever I can scavenge 2nd hand online. Lots of guys seem to buy stuff, use it 2-3 times, get tired of it and sell it on for nothing.

Current favourites are;

Versace - Blue Jeans
Pour Lui - Oscar De La Renta

Creed Aventus is probably the best of all time. Unbeatable. In a way I'm glad it's so expensive as it stops it from becoming the next Acqua Di Gio or something with absolutely everyone wearing it on nights out.

Unfortunately it has, I smell it on other people a lot. Any forum that has a fragrance topic, you can bet your bottom dollar someone will be banging on about Aventus.

Aventus can be had for cheapish, 50ml for under £60 from a split. Plus there are tons of clones that smell very similar.

Samples arrived today and I have to say Tom Fords tobacco Vanille really isn't nice when you first put it on. In fact it's quite nauseating as I really don't like tobacco. Now I've had it on for a couple of hours it's mellowed but I don't like it.
