*** Nintendo Switch ***

So far I only have BoTW, Pokemon Sword and Elder Scrolls Blade. Any game suggestions are welcome. I did look at Animal Crossing again but not sure if it's a game I can play mostly solo?

Mainly into RPG/Puzzle stuff.

Only a few hours in so hard to say but Fenyx Rising is pretty good and meets that criteria.

Highly recommend Dragon Quest 11 which is the Definitive edition which has japanese audio(though I believe PS4 port is finally coming out).
Dragons Dogma Dark Arisen if you haven't played it yet is also pretty good option if you can get it cheap from Eshop.

Goodness, £49.99 for DOOM Eternal. I thought it would come in at £39, being as it's been so long.

Carts for anything first party - normally cheaper and have excellent resale prices.

Mixture of e store and carts for everything else. Most 3rd party stuff is e store only unless it’s a big cross platform job.

As with anything on the e store, if you can wait for a sale, wait for the sale.

You can say Amazon, OCUK don’t sell Nintendo games :p

You have to shop around, lots of places sell them and have different games discounted at different times including supermarkets and places like very, Argos, curry’s and Smyths.

Shopto are normally good on price when it comes to preorders.

My switch has just been gathering dust for months now. I hadn't touched it for months before that myself, but now even my mum has lost interest in using it for Mario Kart. I also can't find downtime to use it at work anymore since my duties have increased. Best I can manage is a few posts on here through a shift
Despite a new Pokemon Snap and Metroid Prime (if that ever happens) coming, I don't think I want to sit on this console anymore. Thinking its time to sell and move on

There are a few choices with Animal Crossing and multiple players. But, to be honest, it's not very well set up (in my opinion) for multiplay.

If you buy a single cartridge, then you'll be able to use it on both devices separately (obviously not at the same time!). Each device will have what basically amounts to a separate game, with it's own island. If you set up a second account on each device for the other daughter, they would be able to use that account to visit the island of the owner of that Switch. These second accounts would also enable them to both play on one device in single screen co-op. But the second player is really limited. All they can really do is pick stuff up and shake trees, and if they leave the screen the main player is on, they will just get teleported back.

If you buy two cartridges, then they will both be able to play it at the same time as each other. They will also be able to visit each others islands in a more independent way - although from what I understand it's still pretty limited. They aren't tethered to the owner any more, but they still can't build anything, it's more of a visit and guided tour deal.

The one bit I don't know is this: To play the multiplayer across two devices, do they need to have the Nintendo online account subscription, even if it's over a LAN? I think maybe they do - but not sure.
EDIT: Just done a quick google, and I think I'm wrong. Nintendo online isn't needed if they're on the same wifi.
You can play 2 player on the same console, one player is the leader whilst the other rages when they get spawned to the leaders location constantly.

I got the game for £35 for my 6 year old to play with 8 year old, who surprisingly likes the collecting / crafting nature of the game - similar to Minecraft.

Personally they have had more game time with Mario Oddesy and Super Mario Delux

ok thanks. whats the best place for carts? rainforest?

I got my cartridges from a mixture of CEX, Amazon, eBay and Currys.

The Switch came with Pokémon Shield which I wasn't interested in, so I exchanged it in-store at CEX for 1-2-Switch which is kinda an introductory game for the Switch for new Switch users like myself. Amazon prices were reduced due to deals that I took advantage of. For Link's Awakening, Amazon shipped 2 copies by mistake. When I raised it with Live Chat, they weren't interested, so I sold the extra copy and bought Super Mario Party from the proceeds. For eBay, I paid about £5 less than the RRP for the games 2nd-hand. For Currys, the 2 games were reduced, again due to a deal of theirs. Shipping was free on all orders from Amazon, eBay and Currys. CEX was in-store.

Rough timeline of me getting the Switch and each cartridge. This is to give readers here an idea of what I paid in the context of covid and the 2 England lockdowns. Note that the Switch availability is currently scarce except for the Lite version.

mid-Sep: Got a 2nd-hand Switch + Pokémon Shield / eBay / £250 all-in
late-Sep: Traded Pokémon Go for 1-2-Switch at CEX / £28 -> free
late-Sep: Bought 51 Worldwide Games / Amazon / £29
early-Oct: Bought Link's Awakening / Amazon / £35
mid-Oct: Bought Super Mario Party / eBay / £34 -> free
late-Oct: Bought Super Bomberman R / Amazon / £22 -> £12 using a £10 code
early-Nov: Bought Super Smash Bros Ultimate / eBay / £39
late-Nov: Bought Super Mario 3D All-Stars / Amazon / £44 -> £40 Black Friday
early-Dec: Bought Mario Kart 8 and Mario Odyssey together / Currys / £37 -> £33 each

Can anyone recommend a game for me to buy my wife for Christmas? She pretty much exclusively plays Animal Crossing, but has also played and completed BOTW, Mario Oddeysey, and she also has Mario Kart.

It would be nice for her to have something she can sink a bit of time into like Animal Crossing, but also that she can pick up and play for 15-20 minutes here and there, like she can with AC. Thanks.

Story of Seasons(Harvest moon): Friends of Mineral Town which is a remake of the Gameboy version which was a remake of the PS1 version and SNES.
Stardew Valley

I've just sold mine.

The combination of changing life circumstances and lack of any new standout Switch exclusives saw the console fall by the wayside for me this year. Even on the rare occasions that I've been out, I've found myself preferring to use Game Pass for Android, or Stadia, and continue playing the games I play at home.

I can see myself buying another one once BOTW2 and Metroid Prime 4 have come out. But it seemed sensible to get shot for now, given it's just sat in a cupboard doing nothing.

I haven’t touched mine in a long time due to game pass.

Honestly, assuming they work at the time, I'll likely just end up emulating Prime. The first 3 mapped really well to keyboard and mouse on other emulators
