*** Nintendo Switch ***

Nintendo are heading in the wrong direction. They need to get back to proper handheld systems like the GB series, including GBA. And whilst Nintendo have not really been known for highres, a better 3DS with higher resolution screens would be perfect. I've said it before, and I'll say it again, the switch nor switch lite replaced the 3DS as a mobile console. It's actually quite sad that Nintendo don't currently have a true handheld.
That's where you are wrong. Nintendo clearly didn't want a new DS handheld and the Switch replaced that as both their home console and their handheld range. The proof of that is there to see. That is what the Lite was created for. A proper handheld only device.

Not really sure what point you're trying to make? The fact that the switch has been bought on mass by parents for their children doesn't make it better than the Wii U.

At no point did I say the Switch is better than the Wii U, I said hardcore fans don't make a console successful. They have to appeal to the mass market for something to be commercially successful and the Switch absolutely has done that.

Anyway, to get back on topic, switch pro will not be the success some people think it will. The masses already have a switch, and most parents are not going to be buying their children one when it's actually not going to be significantly better than their current one. In terms of sales numbers, I reckon it will sell even worse than Wii U.

I don't see why the new version of the Switch will not continue to shift millions of units as they do now. We have no idea what the price will be, it could launch as a direct replacement for the current switch...

No because "proper handhelds" no longer have a place given that mobile phones have been a thing for a while now.

which is a shame as I prefer dedicated handheld devices. Playing certain games on a phone is awful and I held off on the switch till the lite but I'm hopeful of another revision with the same dimensions, better control placement, less bezel and 1080p res OLED screen (:

Chances are it will replace the original Switch and it will be discontinued. Nintendo will continue to sell the Switch Lite and the Switch Pro will be the new standard.

Nintendo Direct has been announced for 15th June, so that could be the date for this announcement.

Exactly. Most people I know like using the Switch at home undocked rather than it being a "quick pick up and play on the bus" device. I use it when the TV is in use, when I want to play in bed or when we go away on holiday. Other than that it sits docked all the time.

The Switch is essentially a "Portable Home Game Console", with the emphasis on the word "home" :p

Yep. And thats why its done so well. You have home console grade gaming that you can take wherever you want. I always liked the idea of the 3DS etc but I wanted proper top quality console like games on it. Yes I know that the 3DS has a lot of quality games on it.

Anyone managed to get knockout city working on their switch? I've downloaded it and all I get is an error saying I'm to far away from the data centers ( I live in England)

Works fine for me. It did crash the very first time I ran it but after that it's been fine

Seen the rumours on Eurogamer and Bloomberg, I don't get my info from youtube clickbait shills.

I'd be astonished if something isn't announced this year, even if it isn't released until next spring (due to chip shortages probably). Was just expecting something this week due to E3 coming up this weekend.

Have you read the Bloomberg article? There is this ridiculous line: “The gaming community has speculated online about…”

Oh they do, gaming on a phone with touch controls is not for me. Plenty of life in handheld consoles yet.

I bought a Lite, and have never regretted not buying the normal version.

Been offered a new Switch for £250. Sites currently selling for £280... do I hold off for Prime day in two weeks or snap it up?
