Will it improve battery life in theory?

You want to wait for Digital Foundry to do their full analysis. Some handson reviews now coming out...
Waiting for a half decent reviewer to review it properly rather than holding the switch in one hand and camera in the other....
First real look in the hand.
Quite a lot of praise for the screen, and it does look good from those side by side comparisons.
I use my Switch exclusively in handheld and I can see the OLED model being worth it.
Surprised how much better the colours look and it makes a huge difference to the screen size getting rid of much of the borders.
I don’t think they are saying it’s untrue just that they aren’t releasing one for a while. If as the rumours suggest it could be end of 2022 that is releasing it when there is only a couple of years of life remaining for the switch so I imagine there is going to be a lot of strategic thinking about what to actually do. It’s worth noting that games take years to develop so the game developers could actually be working on the switch replacement so hence not working on a 4K switch.Saying the Bloomberg report is untrue is not exactly confirmation. They're not going to allow any word on future development with the OLED model just around the corner - they don't generally respond to articles like this one but they chose to shut it down straight away, which is unusual. Something is always in development.
These cycles generally last around 7 years which would make a 'Switch 2' launch in March 2024. Of course Nintendo always do their own thing so who knows? The Switch isn't showing any signs of slowing down. I think the end of 2022 is way too soon, personally.I don’t think they are saying it’s untrue just that they aren’t releasing one for a while. Definitely it would be too late in the cycle to release an update like this and too soon in the cycle to end the current switch. These cycles generally last around 7 years which would make a 'Switch 2' launch in March 2024.
