*** Nintendo Switch ***

Nobody has really failed at doing anything here, ....

Except for the hard assed guys at Ninty/MS who will not agree on licensing and dont give a stuff on this!
Which concurrently is a loss/disappointment/fail/whatever the hell you want to call it on a Friday afternoon, to the consumer :)

Sonic Advance was released on the Gameboy Advance 2 decades ago.

I was wondering when you were going to way in on this and nitpick on details :D
But yes you are right, so let me rephrase the original sentence.

Who would have thought that sonic would appear on a ninty platform 2.5 decades ago eh?

How the hell did we just have a page of debate about whether not having goldeneye is “a fail”. Impressive stuff chaps :p

Well.... what else is there to do on a Friday afternoon.. .
Besides I need to catch-up on my post count :)

I’ve missed your mardy posts :D

Nintendo are still massively Japan focussed despite the massive majority of their sales being elsewhere. Another example of the mystery that is Nintendo.

Anyone getting the Switch OLED even though you own the original Switch (and probably would sell it?)

Nope, it seems to be worse in bright conditions depending on which original screen you got in the panel lottery.

The OLED screen is a low quality one from a few generations ago and without any anti glare coating.

I see. Any way to determine which panel you got or is it a lottery as you say, and no way to identify from say serial number ?

Was on the fence to buy this, but if what you say is true Kreeeee thats a deal breaker.

Generally the panels with the offset color tones (slightly blue or yellow) are the lower quality ones and have significantly less peak brightness (60-80 nits) than the neutral panel. There are at least 4 different panels used across the full fat Switch models.

The only way to know for sure without direct comparison is to dismantle the device or mod it and boot android OS to get the panel serial.

See, knowing the details is useful :D

Could we predict it based on the region or is it a lottery? I can get one in the UK or Asia (which is £50 less).

No, as Nintendo deliver stock to all regions from the same pool of hardware. The serial numbers are also not indicative of the panel in the device.

Were all panels available when the Switch first rolled out or were they introduced later?
(My switch was purchased from day 1 - does this have any bearing on the likihood of having the better panel?)

There were 2 at launch. One of them was the good screen that they made sure got sent to reviewers, the other is a typical cheaper bait and switch job that ended up in the majority of Switches.

Is it 100% confirmed that the OLED screen is 'an old version' or is it just rumours etc.

Yes, the manufacturer leaked that they made the screens in one of their financial reports.

Edit: Also it's Ninteno's Modus Operandi, so this should not be a surprise to anyone. They always use outdated and cheap hardware.

Ok thanks Kreeeee.

What I don't get is Nintendo touting the new OLED screen to being brighter and crisper compared to the original Switch....
So thats just a load of bull from Ninty?

The contrast is way higher, and it is brighter than the lower spec LCD screen. Crispness is lower due to the lower DPI.
