*** Nintendo Switch ***

They don’t want to be in Nintendo’s bad books so not surprising that they have denied it as well… lol
They could have just stayed silent. You would stay out of it if it were true but you were bound not to talk about it by Nintendo. What is there to gain by denying it and then it turns out to be true later. Far more likely there were some crossed wires about the mid-life update (Switch OLED) and some development work on the switch replacement coming in a few years.

Great to hear that the OLED switch finally has a glass screen in that Kevin Kenson hands on video, welcome to the 21st century Nintendo.

The only Metroid games I’ve ever played were a little bit of the first of NES back in day (and I had no idea what I was doing), and some AM2R on Android recently.
After watching the NintendoLife video from a few days ago where they were hands on with it, some hype is building…

Will this game really need me to play through some of the previous entries first? I’ve still got a 3DS kicking around, wondered if it’s worth picking up the last entry?

Also, really wanting to get some white joycons when they’re out. Definitely a cool look on the new switch.

I’m sure the OLED screen will be beautiful, as I remember the difference between PS Vita first model, and revision that didn’t have OLED. It’s not really a system seller for me though. I’ll be keeping my first model Switch until it dies. Come end of life it’s still rife for hacking too.

Samus Returns on the 3DS is raising up in price so you probably want to get your hands on it quickly before it gets stupidly expensive, unless you can still buy it from the eshop. Worth picking up in my opinion.

Is that really a big deal? I don’t know anyone who didn’t immediately put a tempered glass screen protector on their Switch, and glass has disadvantages in that it can crack and has worse reflections.

Whether it’s related or not the screen is now not as deeply mounted. This may have only been possible with the glass screen.

Its frustrating, all these little quality of life and quality of build improvements are nice. Damn you Nintendo; if only you'd done a bit more for existing users.

These are a no-brainer for anyone looking to get a Switch now over the older cheaper models.

Edit: Apparently Bloomberg put out an update advising they still believe their story is/was true and a performance upgrade WAS intended for the OLED/Pro, and that as I conjectured, manufacturing delays caused by the silicon shortages etc put paid to that.

Honestly, given the way its jacked up pricing of anything using more modern silicon, that really wouldn't surprise me. I can't imagine Nintendo would want or being willing to pay substantially more for the core silicon, when the Switch is still selling like hotcakes.

Any decent glass screen protectors for the OLED yet? I saw a YouTube video saying the current Switch ones won’t fit.

Many Metroids are great, Super Metriod on Snes nailed the formula then Castlevania Symphony of Night added to the concept that they're often called Metroidvania style games, 2D scrollers with backtracking and RPG elements.

Castlevania Advance collection just out on Switch has 3 of the best Metroidvania gamea of all time, quite similar to the style of the new Metriod game.

The best Metroidvanias are neither Metroid or Castlevania games these days.

Ori and Hollow Knight comfortable steal that title on their own.

Confession, Super Metroid was one of my all time favourite snes memories but having recently played it on the Switch it hasn't aged very well at all :(

Nah nah come back :p
I can fully understand where you are coming from, its like certain games that I never liked when I was younger but others went crazy over...

Probs found it way too hard as well, that didn't help. I enjoyed the Netflix series though :)

I see what is meant by the Samus Returns pricing. Even here it’s above £60 for a physical copy, and Nintendo region locking 3DS consoles means I wouldn’t be able to play the versions I could buy.
After that minor disappointment, I realised how easy it is to hack the 3DS though…

Will hopefully get on with this game, as from the gameplay Dread looks real fun. If I’m alright with Samus Returns then Dread will be a day 1 buy!

Yeah I know they're great games series but I didn't like the art direction or setting as much, I'll get round to playing them again though. I've got quite a few modern Metrodivanias to play through from Humble Monthlies, though spiritual Castlevania successor Bloodstained wasn't as good at all I'd hoped it would be that was on a bundle recently, enjoying replaying Circle of Moon on the new advance collection a lot more.
