*** Nintendo Switch ***

As someone commented to me last week, are Nintendo really going to ditch an ARM CPU for their next handheld? and basically throw away compatibility with the Switch back catalogue?
I can't see it myself, back compatibility has become something of an expectation now in consoles.

Also I appreciate that even v the likes of Valve or Asus Nintendo are going to have massive buying power when it comes to an SoC - presumably getting them cheaper but can we really see them pricing a Switch 2 anywhere close to $600?

Backwards compatibility with original Switch games is a must - otherwise Nintendo face another Wii U scenario. The Asus ROG Ally shows us what the market is capable of producing with respect to handhelds. I think the Switch 2 will be in the same ballpark cost wise as a PS5 or Series X.

Thinking of picking up a Zelda switch, but heard there is issues with green tint on the screens of a lot of them ?

Edit, at certain brightnesses.

Can't say i've noticed any tint - is there a particular brightness it's supposed to be apparent at?
I can’t recall exactly. I saw a thread on Era regarding it. Seems to be only on black screens it’s visible.

It’s a minor issue and probably wouldn’t truly bother me tbh.

I know several people who own the Switch OLED and none of them have mentioned a green tint as an issue. It probably affects only a tiny percentage. I wouldn't let this stop you getting the TOTK OLED.

*You owe me a few £££ Nintendo* :D

I’ll be gutted if it isn’t BC I’ve bought a ton of digital Switch games since launch.

Gonna pick one up. My ageing switch needs replacing tbh. Or do I wait for the inevitable refresh / new switch 2 :D
I was in the same position, but FOMO and the lack of any announcement from Nintendo about a successor for the Switch pushed me toward picking up the TOTK OLED edition. I don't have any regrets ;the OLED screen is a big upgrade from the original in terms of colour vibrancy & contrast with much better black levels. The screen is also a bit bigger. I still think a new console will be announced at the end of this year or early next year. But very little is known about what Nintendo plans : could there be two separate SKUs - a home console and a handheld ?
