*** Nintendo Switch ***

I had hoped the next portable incarnation would have been a truly portable handheld as opposed to this hybrid, which granted clearly works for the majority. As you say It's just a personal view.

I am happy carrying it around in my bag. And as a console the games look fantastic on my TV. I never went for the 3DS as the visuals just weren't good enough for me. This thing nailed it.

I wouldn't want the screen any smaller, I took it to a friends yesterday and played Street Fighter. IMO perfect size.

It'll probably be a 3DS game anyways :)
Or a Monsterhunter type crossover?

Speculation is fun :)

Personally I am not interested in a Pokemon game but I am not one to ignore the fact that something like that would sell the console by the truck load.

I'm really not big on Pokemon either but intrigued to see what the Direct is about.

It could just be about the Pokemon GO summer update so best to keep expectations in check :)

I am having a dilemma about which Switch to buy!

Was always set on team neon, but now I see the green & pink sets coming out for Splatoon 2 in the summer which I definitely want, especially the green. But if I get a neon Switch that would mean one blue, red, green & pink joy cons. Which would drive my OCD a bit nuts, and it would be expensive to complete 4 colour sets!

So now thinking of the grey one. Then get a green & pink joy cons set when they're out. Decisions decisions.

4 different colours makes multiplayer controller assignment much easier.

Try explaining to a newbie that they need the left grey controller and not the right grey controller.

Considering its a Nintendo Direct, I'd guess that to be likely. If they announced a Pokemon for the Switch I think the internet would literally implode :p

But also, interestingly. If this is the case, announcing it BEFORE E3 and this close as well? They're building E3 up to something big.

Here's the thing. Everyone expects Pokemon for the Switch. So if it's a 3DS title, there will be massive disappointment. Tomorrow will go one way or another. Very well or not so great.

Personally, I've got my hand in my wallet at the ready. Bring on limited edition Switch bundles!

So we bought our wee boy a Switch for his birthday at the end of the month (He's gonna be 6). Still a hard thing to come by in the shops. I got the last one in our local ASDA (Neon of course). Got him Mario Kart 8 and some Lego game to go with it. As he's only gonna be 6 I'm not sure if Zelda is for him, though I'm half tempted to get it for me lol.

Took the console out of the box last night to make sure it works before hiding it away until his birthday (26th). Very surprised how good MK8 looked on the small screen.

A Pokemon game for the Switch would be good as the wee man is going through a Pokemon stage at the mo.

I got myself a switch and my 6 year old has been playing Zelda (only just gone 6).
He has played Mario Kart on the WiiU and mario, pikmin etc. so he picked up using both joysticks easier. He also gives me a run for my money in Mario Kart!
With regards to Zelda I tend to play it with him to help out if needed (some of the bigger enemies and he struggles a touch with the bow and arrow but he is loads better now).
All the speech bubbles etc. is helping his reading as well. He has only done one divine beast but its been a great experience going through the game with him.

I just wish it had a smaller footprint and be truly pocket portable. I know a few individuals scoffed at the 3DS XL but I thought it perfect for what it was. As I say, I do want one but I think I'll wait for the second revision to decide.

Obviously it's each to their own, but I think it is a fine portable size - not really bigger than my Kindle ereader, so fits in my inside coat pockets, and in fact quite a few of my trouser pockets (so long as you don't wear ghastly skinny jeans). The 'inconvenience' is just keeping the joycons in another pocket. Summer is the troublesome time because I wear no coat and only have so much pocket space for wallet and things.
