*** Nintendo Switch ***

Anyone want to pre-order the Switch without knowing what it's going to cost and/or whether you'll actually get one on launch.

GAME can sort you out for only £999......

"PLEASE NOTE: Until we receive an official price from Nintendo, a temporary price of £999.99 will be given to the Nintendo Switch console. This placeholder will show through the checkout process and on your confirmation email, but you will not be charged this amount. At a later date, the confirmed price will be guaranteed to those who have pre-ordered.

At this time we have not received official confirmation of stock allocation, nor of the availability of stand-alone consoles versus console bundles. Until we have our allocation confirmed by Nintendo we cannot guarantee that every order will be fulfilled for launch, nor whether we will be able to offer you a stand-alone console or bundle. We will contact you in the event that you need to choose whether you wish to receive a bundled console."

WTF :rolleyes:

The Switch has the same or improved touch screen and motion controls that existed in the WiiU's game pad so anything relying on those can be ported of a sequel developed.

Only if you're playing undocked that is, when the console is docked you can't see the screen so tapping platforms in games like Mario 3D World or opening your inventory in ZombiU won't work automatically, if WiiU games are made available on the Switch that is (doubtful).

Obviously any new sequels would be designed from the ground up for the Switch so this won't be an issue.

I feel there is a fair chance we'll see Xenoblade X on Switch. If it did happen they will most likely stick with 30fps and spend the extra resources elsewhere - I think that would be the best direction to take.

Wii U exclusive games I want to see ported to Switch:

We already know Splatoon (:D) and Mario Kart 8 are coming.

* Bayonetta 2
* Xenoblade X
* Smash 4
* Donkey Kong Country Tropical Freeze
* Super Mario 3D World - only if the new Mario game is not going to release anytime soon
* Pokken Tournament - The arcade version is still getting new characters. I love this game and would certainly buy an enhanced version with the arcade content.
* Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE - an overlooked gem in Wii U's library, niche but would fill a gap.
* Pikmin 3 (assuming Pikmin 4 isn't on the way) - fantastic RTS!
* Lego City Undercover - One of the better Lego games imo
* Super Mario Maker - Seems very likely!
* Captain Toad Treasure Tracker

I certainly wouldn't purchase all these games on Switch having played them extensively on Wii U already, but these are the games I feel are most suitable to port and could benefit most from more exposure.

Only if you're playing undocked that is, when the console is docked you can't see the screen so tapping platforms in games like Mario 3D World or opening your inventory in ZombiU won't work automatically, if WiiU games are made available on the Switch that is (doubtful).

Yeah any Wii U games on switch are going to be adjusted ports. Rumour is that there is an IR sensor on the right Joy-con however, which could make a good substitute for the touch interface when playing on TV. This would make WiiU ports easier if true.

Mario Maker will get a port, infact this game will probably now be a Nintendo Staple.

The rest should hopefully see upgrades, a new DK would be fantastic. Some of these on release day will see the switch very successful. I'm not fussed as I have a Wii U. But it would make sense, for new Nintendo users if the Switch works.

Mario Maker 3D should be the next step for the Switch.

Something like that would be really interesting.

There's been quite a few ROM hacks of Mario 64, e.g. Star Road, so something that allows you to make Mario 64 style levels would be awesome.

Galaxy style levels may be too complex to easily create and edit yourself on the Switch. Or one other option for an expanded Mario maker could be the style used for Super Mario 3D World.

Regardless, expanding into any 3D style levels would be freaking brilliant!

Soooo, only just saw that this is a thing! I've been toying with getting a console for ages as I'm a PC gamer. And this looks like it might be the best thing between both worlds!

Love my 3DS XL (latest version).

Stuff ports, I have the WiiU for those games.

+1
Port are a lazy dumb way to increase the number of games on a system. Usually, the only exception is when people buy the new system that didn't own the previous one. So in that case... I guess many Switch owners will play WiiU games that never got played by enough people due to the fact that not many folks owned a WiiU. In that regard it's a lovely thing. It's increasing the access of the games to more people.

But for those of us who own a WiiU and bought all the good games on it... sod Nintendo's nonsense, we aren't paying out the arse (Nintendo likes to maintain full price) for a game we've already bought.

Exception is the likes of Journey. The more people that can access games like that, the better. And I own both the PS3 and PS4 (I think it's cross-platform onwership too). That's what Nintendo need to do, cross-platform ownership, of course it wouldn't only work for digital games so all my discs would be useless on a Switch. But knowing Nintendo's greed, only when Nintendo games release on PC... AKA when pigs fly.

Mario Maker 3D should be the next step for the Switch.

After about 2 weeks Mario Maker bored me senseless, and I'm a huge Nintendo and Mario fan.

I hated the original Mario Maker, terrible value proposition (it could have been a regular 2D Mario with the Maker thing attached as a fully-fledged game-mode) and it lacked the on thing that made 2D Mario fun in recent years... multiplayer.

But if they ever made 3D Mario Maker for Switch... I might forgive them for how terrible the current on is. Even if it doesn't have multiplayer.
