*** Nintendo Switch ***

Hi All,

With the hype over the Switch 2, I've dug my old Switch OLED out of the pile of dust it's sitting in and want to get into it again before the Switch 2 comes out.

For Someone who's never played a JRPG before. what would people recommend? I'v been looking at Sea of Stars, Dragon Quest XI, Octopath Traveller, etc.. but what's best for a JRPG Noob.

Sea lf Stars and Octopath both have demos (IIRC on the latter as I remember playing it back when it launched). Can give them a try to get a taste.

I am finding myself way more hyped for the Switch 2 than J thought I would be. Playing through Hogwarts in handheld mode (despite owning it on pc) as I like the pick up and play for an hour aspect and love the “how is this running at all” novelty. :)

Sea of Stars isn't a JRPG - it's a retro inspired pixel art RPG. Either of the Octopath games are good choices ; the Xenoblade trilogy is great ; I really enjoyed Dragon Quest XI and there is the recent HD-2D remake of Dragon Quest 3. If you don't mind a fusion of social simulator/strategy game and RPG then I'd strongly recommend Fire Emblem : Three Houses. And then there are the Legend of Zelda games : Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom. You can also play Persona 5 Royal on Switch ( originally a Playstation game - but it's amazing ).

Hades is on sale at £8.99 at Nintendo estore.

Out of those I'd recommend : Super Mario Odyssey, Mario RPG, Breath of the Wild, Pikmin 3. BotW would be my top pick. If you like, or want, multiplayer games then consider Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, Splatoon 3, Super Smash Bros.
Just a FYI, the games in my list are the games I already own.

For the Xenoblade games, I've never played the series before, and I noticed a game called X is released next week. Is it worth buying X or just buying game 1?

Just seen they are stopping gold points. You'll no longer be able to earn them after 24th March.
Yeah that did surprise me when I first read about it.
I guess they are planning on launching a replacement service when the Switch 2 launches just like when they ended the whole Club Nintendo point system way back when

As someone who buys digitally most of the time, they have come in very handy. Recently, they had a coin back deal on renewing online membership. I jumped at it, partly because my parner gifted me £15 Nintendo Gift Card, so I only paid about £45 to renew my family + plan another year. Received 1200 coins in return and used that towards buying Tetris Effect Connected.
