There are plenty of audio options this time round :)

This actually came up on my news feed the other day so your not the only one who found the music in X distracting. I didn't mind it, actually quite liked a lot of it, but Xenoblade 2's music is less... whacky, and generally quite good from what I've read.

Glad to hear it! some of the music was ok but a few tunes really annoyed me, I also found the music drowned out some of the cut senses and voice audio.

Just out of interest , isn't it quite hard to do some of Mario's moves with a controller (its certainly hard if not impossible when playing on the move )

I have the pro pad, and I wouldn't use it on Mario. I pretty much use it for MK8D really. Nintendo has it right with split pads, it's the best way to play most games.

I completed the game using the pad with no issues as you can still flick it for hat throws etc. Handheld was a lot harder I didn't play it much that way.

I don't use the split joycons I find them too small.

I used the Pro Controller for Mario also, got all the moons and didn't use motion controls at all. I just much prefer the feel of control with the Pro sticks.

Yeah the audio mixing was definitely an issue in some cutscenes.
Xenoblade X was generally polished and technically great, but there were a few odd quality of life issues.
A shame you didn't finish X, the late/end game was really quite good.

I am split with the joy cons/pro pad for Mario.

I've played a good chunk of it with split joy cons and its been great, felt very natural. But on the weekend I played a few hours with the pro pad simply because I picked it up and was too lazy to get up and get the joy cons and I enjoyed it just as much. There are one or two moves I am not sure how to execute properly with the pro pad but honestly I didn't feel like I was missing anything.

I just watched a few minutes gameplay of Chronicles 2 then heard Rex's voice

Well that sealed it's fate for me :p what a horrible accent!

Played Revelations for a bit this morning (I ended up buying both as 2 was the same price with 20% off). Looks and runs very smoothly. Very hard to aim in handheld but I kind of knew it would be. I'll get used to it, hopefully. Taken my Switch to work and will give it more of a go at lunch time.

Edit - Just read some impressions on the motion controls and they apparently work really well so I'll turn them on to see how I get on.

My copy of Xenoblade just turned up from simplygames so hoping some reviews drop before I get home, I am sure it will be great but wouldn't want to open it and then find out its an absolute stinker....

This will be my first "modern" JRPG, think the last one I played was Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII on the PSP.

OK yes motion works really well in RE. Both handheld and detached the aiming works really well. I even used the little kick stand for the first time. I am sat at my desk at work so unfortunately couldn't play for long!

Is the game good? I was looking to pick 1&2 up having never played them. Glad to hear motion control works well, to me that is quite a selling factor on games for Switch

What little I've played of 1 it I really like it. It's a mixture of old and new but doesn't go too far like RE6 did. Feels more like 4 to me. I hope they bring RE4 I'd be all over it. I never played the Wii version of RE4 but remember reading that it was praised because of the precision of the aiming. Early days for me here but it feels good to aim with motion in this game too.

Plus it's an HD RE game which I am playing on a handheld device at work and in the car. That's a pretty amazing thing for me. I didn't own a 3DS so I never played this or any of the console versions.
