tbf they barely release games

What? They are among the top developers/publishers when it comes to software output are they not?

Remember, it's the developers responsibility when it comes to the quality of their games at release not the platform holder.

I enjoyed the gameplay but i found the main charter annoying.... and a bit over sexualised

Bayonetta is among the few 'sexualised' female game characters that I don't have a problem with, it fits her personality and character perfectly. It's worth mentioning she was designed by a woman too.

I agree with Jim Sterling on this

Games like SFV, MGSV and even Xenoblade Chronicles 2 have bigger/real issues on this subject imo.

I am around 22 hours in and on EP4 (not sure how far into this episode but I've been here for quite a while!) and I am totally hooked by Rex and Pyra's story so far. I love the visual style and how they've gone full on anime - the cut-scenes are pretty spectacular. The fights are absorbing even more now that I have - let's just say - other options :)

Yeah the world building story elements are great too. The writing is generally very good and I actually want to speak to NPC's in town to find out more about the world. Having NPC's that have something new to say marked with a * was a fantastic idea. I also like that even though a lot of the typical anime tropes exist, it builds on them in a serious and meaningful way instead of cheesing out.

Did you stick with the Japanese voice?, I ended up going back to English and the only frequent voice that grates me a bit is Tora (a bit "cbeebies" as someone put it). I think Nia, Rex and the other main characters are done quite well. I also like how different regions have different accents.
I noticed some issues with the JP voices, such as one of the important female characters sounding like a man... and a mature looking female BLADE having a squeaky anime voice, among some other weirdness. I think the quality of the Eng voices is actually better than the JP in this game.

the publisher can force the developer to release it early etc

Yeah "developer/publisher" is what I meant to say there, and Nintendo publish their own games anyway so irrelevant. Kinda dodged my question there though :p

By platform holder I was referring to Sony, Microsoft etc, because the fault for big patches and broken games at release is not on them but on the developer/publisher; of which there are very few as big as Nintendo.

don't know about microsoft but sony develop and publish more software than nintendo regarding big patches they aren't a problem tbh unless you prefer games to get delayed and get game droughts like what happened on the wii u

Are you sure? I think Sony have published around 10 games to retail this year?, while Nintendo it's 25+ (11 on Switch?, 15+ on 3DS?) (EDIT: 8 or 9 on Switch I think). Nintendo typically develop more games than Sony too, including this year I believe.

I think it's pointless comparing though, as Sony don't have an issue with quality control anyway, I agree big patches are not really a big problem. But, there are prominent developers/publishers releasing far fewer games than Nintendo but still having issues with their games at release.
Wii U droughts didn't have much to do with game delays, the system was just a failure commercially.

The point was though, if you're going to say Nintendo "barely release games"... well, then no one does by your metrics :p.

No Zelda was announced as in development the following year and was not even officially revealed until 2 years after the Wii U's launch. Zelda would not have made it out in time to save the Wii U from droughts regardless so it's irrelevant.

And yes you should have made those things clear :p, you've completely changed the landscape of this conversation.

When it comes to "AAA" though, it's a loose classification for what are 'high budget' games (i.e. it's not clear where the line is). I'm not sure games like Everybody's Golf, mavity Rush 2 and Hidden Agenda would really qualify(budget wise).
You should also compare Nintendo to more companies than just Sony if you want to make an argument that Nintendo barely release any games.

If you don't agree that Nintendo are among the top developers/publishers in the industry when it comes to software output then there's nothing I can argue to convince you otherwise.

Yes I did stick with it but I have switched between the two and to be fair the English VA is better than I had first thought. I was surprised to find out that Nia was Welsh when I changed it back to English - a proper South Wales valleys accent - it is really authentic (I lived in South Wales for most of my life). I switched it back to Japanese though as I am used to it now. I think Tora is just annoying it doesn't matter what language it's acted in :)

Tora is annoying the rest are good though I like the English VA

Xenoblade Chronicles 2 is getting an update on the 20th. There will be some bug fixes, which will hopefully address the memory leak and crash issues some people are seeing. Additionally:

  • Easy Mode will be added to the Tiger! Tiger! mini-game
  • pressing the X button will immediately bring you to the map of the area you’re currently in, on the Skip Travel screen;
  • improvements will be made to the mini-map overlay (by pressing the L stick), improving the visibility of your surroundings.
Speaking of the mini-map, an update to be released next year alongside the set of additional quests(in January) will bring further improvements to it. There will also be additional changes/additions for the game, such as being able to befriend specific Blades or add Pyra and Dromarch to a mercenary team, but also LV4 skills for Blades.

The map issues have perhaps been my primary frustration within the core game loop, so that's great to hear!. With the Expansion Pass adding content until end of 2018, we'll likely see several updates that add polish.

I think Tora is just annoying it doesn't matter what language it's acted in :)

Hah. I think the actual acting is fine it's just the sound of the voice, I don't feel it quite fits either. Chronicles X also had a Nopon character that people found annoying, but the character grew on me after a bit and I think the voice was a better fit (
).
