*** Nintendo Switch ***

Do it, it's a masterpiece. I am still finding little things that amaze. The game world works exactly as you would expect it to, the mechanics are so tight it's incredible. I hope the development team had a nice all expenses paid holiday after they finished! Good luck with the 100%... there some things that you are bound to miss without looking online :D
There are so many hidden gems in the game, Like making a dog copy you when crouched down and spinning in a circle. I giggled like a child.

I think impulse buying on the Switch is better than something like Steam because even with a small amount of free time you can just be sat having lunch or whatever and you can just be playing something in seconds. Whereas on PC there is always a ton of other things to consider and you almost always end up doing something else. Most of the indie games I've played have been completed in repeating short 20-30 minute bursts.

I completely agree.

I did pop back on axiom and came at it with a more open minded exploration is key approach. I found a fair few items, boosted my health a bit and I think I'm now in the right area as some dialogue has occurred again :)

I think it should maybe offer up a hint eventually. I recently played metroid prime 2 for the first time and it's similar. I got lost too often and eventually if you wonder around too long it gives a small hint on the map as the where the main objective is. Though it took too long to give that hint at times :D

So sent my Switch back due to borked memory reader. Been with Nintendo repairs since 22nd and they have not even looked at it. Fired one across the bows and about to escalate to UK business but wondered if anyone else has experience with their repair division? Efficient getting the kit back to them, but now in a black hole of computerness and I am getting ready to fire the phalanx of noise that is Housey Wants Toy Back.

Yeah basically if you get a Switch, you will play and complete every game you buy.

PC or Console, you run the (very) high risk of having about 20-200 games you've never touched in a few years due to lack of time lol.

These days I never really have more than 1-2 games in my backlog at any one time, sales are great but I generally wouldn't choose to play one game over another that I'm more interested in just because it was on offer.
I see friends buying so many games only to never play them or play only for a little while, even on Switch, seems crazy to me.

I played Subsurface Circular recently. It's a text-based adventure game designed to be played in one sitting (only about 2 hours long), I really enjoyed it. The story certainly left an impression on me, one of those that will have you thinking for a while afterwards.

I too picked up Axiom Verge in the sale, finally; as it's been on my radar for ages. Looking forward to starting it!.

Watched some Wolfenstein II Switch footage last night. Looks like it runs really well and it's confirmed to have gyro aiming!

Looks really good doesn't it. Graphically it looks really nice and it seems to be very smooth as well.

I can't justify getting this and Doom on the Switch when Doom if £5 and this is often under £15 on the PC.

This is the problem I'm having. I played Doom on my PS4 and it could be bought for £10 or so. £30+ is just too much.

Not played Wolfenstein 2 yet so I am tempted as I loved the first one. I don't know though. As above I can get it pretty cheap elsewhere.

It's a hard one to swallow. I can understand Skyrim to an extent as the game truly is huge and has much to offer. W2 literally for me was an 8 hour campaign, little to no replay value for me personally. I enjoyed the story, but even that was on offer when I picked it up, black Friday Xbox sale I think under £20

I'd be interested to see the sales numbers on these 2 in particular on Switch. It's such a hard sell imo, they are too little too late especially at full price. They should be priced around £25-30 which is still too much considering your post (and I agree), but its almost acceptable ;)

One way of looking at Doom is that you could probably sell it on once your done and get your money back or near enough on the Switch. You're not doing that with the PS4 version when it's only £10 new anyway.

Whilst I agree for me I have no other hardware to play it on. So its Switch or nothing. Want both, haven't bought either yet. I'll get Doom at some point this year for sure.

Well currently I am weighing up the possibility of building a PC this year. If that starts then I'll hold off :)

It's always nice to have another option for gaming if budget etc allows for it. I wouldn't be without a switch now but I find it's a perfect complement to a PC even if I don't use either as much as I would like

Recommend Steamworld Dig 2, just completed it. Only downfall I have is it could have been a little longer, completed in 7 hours. Dunno if can be bothered for all the secrets.

How cool is Axiom Verge?. I sat and played it for nearly 5 hours straight, can't remember the last time I was as immersed by the atmosphere in a retro game (or one with retro graphics). It really does bring back memories of playing Super Metroid for the first time. Great soundtrack too!.

I got Steamworld Dig 2 on PC free with Amazon prime (twitch), haven't decided if I'll play it yet but with all the praise it gets I think I might have to give it a go.
